Case Study

Katyas case scenario shows how her lack in identity gets her in believing she will

not do well in things she has prepared and put work for beforehand. Katyas overthinking

on the future and the exams that need to get done to get where she wants to be has

caused her to have severe anxiety. If the problem of getting anxiety when trying to do

well doesnt get resolved sooner than later, it could get worse and maybe even lead to

death in some way.

Anxiety doesnt always happen from one day to another and stress can be a big

role that leads to it and many other things especially beginning in college age years.

Just like what a web said that During college, students deal with a unique amount of

stressors. Specifically, college calls for a significant transition, where students

experience many firsts, including new lifestyle, friends, roommates, exposure to new

cultures and alternate ways of thinking. (Tartakovsky, M.S., Magarita (2016) Depression

and Anxiety Among College Students. Retrieved from

Something I read from last weeks review was that stress is not only important in our

lives but can be controlled. The way we deal with Stressors will determine our overall

Health and Wellness. Excessive stress amongst college students can lead to addictions
such as tobacco use, poor diet, lack of exercise and excessive drinking. All of this can

be avoided by recognizing our personal stressors and learn how to cope.

"Stress is people's natural reaction to excessive pressure it isn't a disease, but if stress

is excessive and goes on for some time, it can lead to mental and physical ill health like

depression or heart disease. Reading last weeks review reminded me of my personal

experience with just my normal life agenda of all the business that life can bring and still

trying to learn how to stay sane with it all.

While evaluating my life and looking over research having to do with stress I

found an interesting journal that could truly relate to many in the young college life. This

journal talked on college students having social anxiety and the outcome that can

happen when in that place. Many students feel pressured to fit in the college life

especially as a freshman who is longing to be involved with what and who seems cool.

This social anxiety issue may lead to many different types of activities like drinking in

this case according to the journal. With this stress situation, many problems could occur

when making the decision to give in into what others are as well. This journal was an

interesting one to read about because social college drinking can be both risky and

highly prevalent on college campuses as well as such a big deal in this generation

without us fully realizing it. (Ham, L. S., Zamboanga, B. L., Olthuis, J. V., Casner, H. G.,

& Bui, N. (2010). No fear, just relax and play: Social anxiety, alcohol expectancies, and
drinking games among college students. Journal of American College Health, 58(5),

Some recommendations to help not give into the wrong path when in stress

would be to exercise, taking nutrients for the brain, asking for help from either therapists

or healthy friends, and living a balance life of fun activities that you may enjoy like

painting or paint balling. There are many paths to take in life instead of going to what

seems best in the moment when feeling like you could be getting an anxiety attack.

Personally, I believe trying new things in life like these recommendations have helped

me get through stressful moments in life.

In conclusion, some levels of stress can be good for us, as the right kind of

stress encourages us toward change and growth. (Cohen, Melissa (2017). Surviving

Stress and Anxiety in College & Beyond. Retrieved from

http://www.learnpsychology.org/student-stress-anxiety-guide/) However, we need to

recognize when it begins to look like it exists in our lives for an extended period which

can be a great risk for our health. Just like Katya, we need to understand our feelings of

stress and anxiety and learn how to manage them so that they dont become

overwhelming or an actual danger as well.
