New Modes of Productivity for Student Learning

This article presents the main idea of how to form productivity in nontraditional students

learning. Todays students come from very highly diverse backgrounds. Most of the students are

adult who focus on achieving their goals. Unlike traditional learning pattern of students attending

the classroom sessions, some students take distance education course, and some students mix

education with work which is why they cannot focus exclusively on their study. Consequently,

both the faculty and learners must have effective learning goals. This article conveys a program

consists of five components to enhance productivity. They are-

1. A strategy for productivity which emphasizes multiple assessments suited to disparate

students goals

2. Learning goals which give faculty members

3. Measure of the goals

4. An effective pedagogy, and

5. Institutional support.

Productivity needs a clear statement of objective by both faculty and learners. To

accomplish achieving the learning goals, faculty should know students goal and help them find

a strategy to achieve their goals according to their different situations. For achieving students

goals, reliable and valid measures are required. Grades are not a sufficient measure of achieving

goals and yet they could be a useful measurement if they are made in a certain standard of

assessments and criteria which actually help the students in their learning process. Faculty need

an effective pedagogy that would give some ideas and strategies for students to learn better.

Overall, faculty, students and administrators need to know the strategies that can increase

productivity.

I strongly agree with this article. There are many kinds of students with nontraditional

backgrounds. All the methods this article contributed are accurate and measurable for both

faculty and students. I agree with this program of productivity because it is appropriate for

students because it emphasizes multiple assessments suited to disparate student learning goals

and patterns of attendance. (Walvoord, Barbara E) This helps the faculty the best opportunity to

know their students and help them achieve the student's goal. This is the part of redeeming of

the biblical framework.
