A. PROJECT BRIEF
a. The Project
Procurement of Plant: Design, Supply, Installation Testing & Commissioning of 500kV Jamshoro
MoroDadu to Rahim Yar Khan Transmission lines & 500kV Switching station at Moro and
extension works at existing 500kV Substations at Jamshoro, Dadu & Rahim Yar Khan project,
hereinafter called the project comprises the following two components:
I: JamshoroMoroDadu to Rahim Yar Khan 500kV Transmission Line (600km)
(Package-1)
Package-1 is further divided into three (3) separate Lots:
Lot-I: Jamshoro-Moro Section 202km
Lot-II: Dadu-Moro-Goth Qazi Mahar Section 232km
Lot-III: Goth Qazi Mahar- Rahim Yar Khan Section 166km
II: 500kV Switching Station at Moro & Extension works at existing 500kV Substations at
Jamshoro, Dadu & Rahim Yar Khan (Package-2).
b. Location
Package 1
The 500kV Transmission lines of the Project traverse a distance of approx. 600km from Jamshoro
MoroDadu to Rahim Yar Khan which covers Sindh and Punjab Province areas.
Single Line Diagram is attached as Appendix-II.

Package 2
The 500kV Switching Station at Moro and extensions of existing 500kV Jamshoro, Dadu & Rahim
Yar Khan Substations covers the following areas as described hereunder:
Moro 500kV Switching Station
This substation is located in the Sindh Province of Pakistan. The city of Moro is situated on National
Highway at a distance of about 320 km from Karachi. The Substation is located in Bhirya at
Noshero feroz district, approx. 32km from the Moro city.
Jamshoro 500kV Substation
This substation is located in the Sindh Province of Pakistan. The city of Jamshoro is situated on
Indus Highway at a distance of about 153km from Karachi. The Substation is located in Jamshoro
Power House.

Dadu 500kV Substation
This substation is located in the Sindh Province of Pakistan. The city of Dadu is situated on Indus
Highway at a distance of about 334 km from Karachi. The Substation is located in Dadu city on
Dadu- Sehwan Road.
Rahim Yar Khan 500kV Substation

This substation is located in the Punjab Province of Pakistan. The city of Rahim Yar Khan is
situated on National Highway at a distance of about 680km from Karachi. The Substation is located
in village Sardar Garh on Khanpur-Sadiqabad road at approx. 51km from city of Rahim Yar Khan.

c. Objectives & Benefits of the Project
The main objective of 500kV Transmission line in association of substations is to transfer of power
to be generated from power generation plants in south areas to enhance the capacity of transmission
line, and provide the transmission link between South & North in order to facilitate transfer of bid
blocks of power to either side under different generation scenarios, which contributes to increase the
electrification, development of industries and alleviate poverty of the area.
d. Financing
Asian Development Bank (ADB) signed a Loan Agreement with the Government of Islamic
Republic of Pakistan under

f. Consultants
Contract for Engineering Consultancy Services for 500kV Transmission Lines 3rd Circuit Jamshoro-
Moro-Dadu to Rahim Yar Khan (600 km) and 500kV Switching Station at Moro and extension
works at existing 500kV Substations at Jamshoro, Dadu & Rahim Yar Khan has been signed
between National Transmission and Dispatch Company Limited (NTDCL) and NESPAK March 06,
2010 (w.e.f. November 16, 2009). The total cost of consultancy fee is Pak Rupees 435.92 million.
NTDCL (Client) has assigned the Consultants to carry out Additional Services pertaining to
Construction Supervision at 500kV Dadu S/S under Amendment No.1 and further Additional
Services for providing Engineering Consultancy Services for Survey Works, Design Review and
Construction Supervision for 500kV, 220/132kV T/Lines and Grid Stations under Amendment Nos.

2 & 3 to the existing Contract for Engineering Consultancy Services for 500kV Transmission Lines
3rd Circuit Jamshoro-Moro-Dadu to Rahim Yar Khan (600 km) and Moro Substation Project. The
total cost of consultancy fee of NESPAK is Pak Rupees 960.08 million.
