1st Lesson: state of matter Mode: Discovery.

Main Idea (Claim) Summative Assessment
Anything that takes up space in matter. Matter
is present everywhere and it states in three
states: SOLID, LIQUID, and GAS.

-What is solid? -Students will be able to define the word solid,
- What is liquid? liquid, and gas?
- What is gas? - Students will know different state of matter.
- Students will be able to distinguish between
different state of matter.

Time Instructional Procedures and Strategies

Beginning the Lesson:


1. Greeting students.
2. Reading through the classroom rules

3. Teacher will review the previous unit which was about plants.
Teacher: will start a new unit about state of matter.
4. Genesis 1: 25- God made the wild animals according to their kinds, the
livestock according to their kinds, and all the creatures that move along the
ground according to their kinds. And God saw that it was good.
God not only created us but also the animals.
God blessed them to be fruitful and multiply.
We know that Animals are blessing to us. (The flood during Noah) God
not only saved Noah and his family but also the animals.

Developing the Lesson


1. Display materials above and tell them what they are. Tell them that anything
takes up space is matter. Matter has three kinds of states: SOLID, LIQUID, and
12 min GAS.
2. Paste the words Solid, Liquid, and Gas on the board.
3. Do experiment
4. Introduce the term of Solid: hold some blocks on one of your hand and the other
hand is empty. Ask them what happened with one of the hand? We cant make a
closed first with the blocks because they take up space.
Take the empty jar and start to fill the jar with stones or marbles. What
happened with the jar? Its full of stones and cant close it because they take up
space.

5. Introduce the term liquid: prepare a circular or rectangular container, a tray and
clear plastic glass/cup. Ask them to pour water in each container. Then ask one
20 min of the students to pour water on the table. Have the students determine the
shape of the water and how it changes.

6. Introduce the term of Gas: take a balloon or plastic bags. Inflate the balloon
and tight tightly. Then puncture the balloon with a needle. Let some students to
feel the air that comes out through the balloon.

Closing the Lesson:

Formative Assessment Differentiation


- -Grouping students with mixture of slow

-Giving extra time for slower students and
showing them some more examples.
