1. A supportive classroom climate is crucial for the students to learn. In a
supportive classroom climate, teachers create friendly and caring
environment. The teachers should display personal characteristics such
as: a cheerful disposition, friendliness, emotional maturity etc. The
teacher should consider about students feelings and display affection to
them. The teacher needs to consider from diverse perspective because
students come from different culture and family background.
2. The teacher should always be focused on how they can teach good lesson.
The effective teacher needs to give sufficient time to prepare the learning
activities for the students. Most importantly, the teacher needs to think
how they can best utilize the time in the classroom. Teachers should not
waste time for non- academic thing in the classroom.
3. Teachers should teach the students focusing on how it can contribute in
their lives to become responsible person in the society. The teacher should
impart the knowledge and skills that can help them to achieve future
goals. The teacher should teach the students about their responsibility for
the family, society, and nation.
4. Teachers should prepare the students for the class with effective opening
activities. The objectives of the lesson should be clearly mentioned.
5. Teachers should explain the content clearly so that students can
understand better. While teaching, the teacher should always pay
attention if students are understanding the lesson or not. The teacher
should also review the lesson and provide guide.
6. Teachers should prepare the questions that helps students to engage and
develop the content systematically. Questions are important for the
students to enhance students cognitive level.
7. Teachers should not only teach theory but also provide enough time to
practice and apply what they are learning. Then provide feedback to help
them improve.
8. The teacher should prepare the students for an activity in advance,
providing guidance and feedback during the activity, and leading the class
in post-activity reflection afterwards.
9. Teachers should learn how they can develop the lesson effectively. The
teacher should enhance their problem solving skills.
10. Students often benefit from working in pairs or small groups to construct
understanding or help one another master skills.
11. The assignments should help students to achieve certain goals. Teachers
should use different types of assessment system to evaluate students
learning and provide feedback to improve.
12. Teachers should learn the students goal for coming schools and find out
whether they are motivated to learn or not. Regarding students abilities to
learn, the teacher should set an expectation for the result.

Reflection:

This article is absolutely helpful for the the teacher who wants to improve

their teaching skill and become an effective teacher. I have acquired

knowledge about different principles of effective teaching. After reading

this article, I think I have discovered my weakness and strengths. One of

my weaknesses is strategy teaching. I think it is because of my language

and accent, the students find hard to understand my instruction. While I

was teaching in practicum, I realized that my teaching strategy was poor

because I could not solve the problem effectively. The class became

chaotic when I tried to do group work. It happened frequently during

teaching practicum. From this article, I have learned that effective teacher

should model and instruct students in learning and self-regulation

strategies As a future teacher, I will improve this skill by practicing.
