How to reduce the Indian Population??

Despite the tremendous growth and talent, India is still a developing country because of the
fact that there are surplus people in India. People are not getting jobs and adequate income
the poor people starve for the food and the government is not able to serve all its citizens
with adequate education and jobs and accommodation. Also like more people means an
environment impact because to create more dwellings and habitat for people the need
forests and natural ecosystem has to be sacrificed.

For a barbaric ruler or a crazy dictator it is very easy solution, Execute the unwanted but
practical situation is a bit different and other barbaric situations would of course be

Mass produce space shuttles and send the excess population to mars
Start an exam like the IITJEE/CAT and ask all the Indian to sit for an exam the
persons who fail would have to leave India for ever
Make a contract with countries like Australia, Canada and Antarctica and send the
people there where there is a scarce population
Declare a war and send all the surplus population to the war with enemies

But practically speaking the population problem will not be solved overnight; there are some
practical methods to control the Indian population as well that shall gradually balance the
growing Indian population.

1. Do nothing.
o India is a developing country. In the initial stages, most developed countries have seen
the trend of rapid increment in their population count, which decreases as the majority
of population moves towards the middle and higher financial classes from lower class.
India is likely to see that trend as the income of individuals increases.
o Fertility rate of India has significantly reduced over time. In 2013, fertility rate was 2.48
compared to 5.87 in 1960 - decline of nearly 60%. The rate needs to fall to 2.1 to
reach population replacement rate. The falling birth rate has resulted in decrease in
the population growth rate. The decline is expected to continue.

2. Firmly Implement Ham Do Hamare Do.

o By firmly, I do not mean to enforce it like Chinas One-Child Policy. Rather, the
government can announce special benefits for people who have less than two
children.
o For instance, Assam government recently proposed a policy to not to give
government jobs to parents who have more than two children, on the other hand
providing free education to girls upto university level.

3. Educate women.

o Indian states where women are least educated have seen tremendous growth in their
population (ex: Bihar). The ones where most women are educated have lesser fertility
rate (ex: Kerala).
o Education and fertility deeply correlate with each other. Not just Indian states, but the
relation has been observed all over the world.

4. Improve Per capita income.

o Which can only be achieved with a strengthening economy. We need to to set up more
industries, improve education, skilled labor and provide more jobs to our people.
Ensuring access to villages, where 70% population of India lives.
o The more people move to the middle classes, the less their need for children as
labour becomes. For the lower classes, the more children they have, is the higher
return of investment they are likely to achieve.
