Introduction,

Currently Im completing A Bachelors degree in Human Resource


DevelopmentBusinBusiness Management at University ASIA Pacific (APU). Im
in my 2rd year and therefore I have to conduct a 3 month internship. The
reason I choose to do my internship in Malaysia is because I wanted to
benefit from the experience. Even though I studied in Malaysia for almost 2 years
and my university allowed me to conduct the internship in my country, I wanted new
challenge. I wanted to do my internship in Malaysia to experience the feeling of working
aboard and to learn, improve and develop new sets of skills. One of my main
goals is to improve my communication skills. Another goal is that Im planning
to continue my Master degree in Malaysia. This is why I choose to do my
internship in Malaysia, and in a hope of find job in Malaysia while doing my
masters. In this internship report I will describe my experiences during my
internship period.. The internship report contains an overview of the internship
company, main HR activities the company practices and the daily activities/tasks that
I have worked on during my internship. Writing this report, I also will describe
and reflect my learning objects and personal goals that I have set during my
internship period.

Organization Background

Arabi Media Group: is to be the largest Arabic media network, working to


reverse the cultures and traditions of the Arabs and what all specialized
them among other societies either in the past or the present. This media
group is working to expose positive and excellent image of Arabs to the
whole world and shows what distinguishes the Arabs in terms of places,
economy, tourism, figures, inventors, or achievements. This information is
extending in timeline from the past to the present. This multimedia network
works to compete with the rest of the foreign networks around the world, in
order to highlight the true image of the Arabs world and the lives of ordinary
Arabian citizen that most of the world not recognizes. This media network
will launch topics far from any political issues or any subjects that will create
hate or racism. This Arabic Network will work to attract and expose what is
successful and meaning of Arabs to the rest of world. This media will be the
house of Arabs creativity; innovation and culture to be spread to everyone
want to have a close look at this ancient world. This network is operating
from Malaysia and will spread to the Arab countries and ends globally.

Arabi Media Group consists of three phases:

First Phase I: (It contains an Electronic and printed magazine magazine ,
Mobile App and a Web-Radio Online.)

Second Phase II: (It has a broadcast live Radio and a YouTube channel)

Third Phase III: A (global television channel)

Environment

Arabi media group the head quarter located in Dubai, Arabi Media Group (AMG) is a leading
media organization in the United Arab Emirates, with subsidiaries covering radio broadcasting,
ticketing, event management and direct marketing. AMG provides creative, fast and cost-
effective media solutions throughout the region. Arabia media group have different branches one
of the branches located in Malaysia, and I was lucky that I got the et chance to work with them.
The branch in is located in Serdang. The office is newly opened and is not widely known yet.

I was lucky to find intern position there, firstly because its not very big company and usually
they dont accept interns so I was grateful but at some time afraid because they I was thinking
about how I will fit there and the amount of work they will give me. Secondly, the staffs in the
office were multicultural, majority are Arab Arabsas the owner is Arab, Indians and Iranians, so
it was a great opportunity for me to learn from an officea place where the staff was were from
different multi cultures.

One part that I mostly liked was that the company was near my house , of course I have to take
taxi to reach there but still it was better than taking train and besides the taxi toke only 5 minute
to reach the company so it was really convince and made my 3 months internship smooth.

Recruitment and Selection of Arabi Media Group are also important parts.
Every Recruitment and selection process is made after concerned
department submits requisition for workforce.

ARABI MEDIA GROUP highly believes in Diversity management. Here, in Arabi


Media Group, there are many employees from different divisions of the
country, even from other countries like Indian, Arabthe Middle East,
Pakistani, Iran, Malaysia an and KazakhKazakhstan employees.

Career management is also an important part of Arabi Media Group. For


every Employee, after one year of his/her job is being evaluated for long
term perspective.

Performance and quality management

Every employees performance is monitored by his/ her line manager and


reviewed by HR department and also the marketing department..

Remuneration and benefits

Arabi Media Group has a good structure of Remuneration and benefits for
employees which are very lucrative in the market.

Occupational health and safety

For maintaining occupational health and safety, Arabi Media Group always
take cares of its employees by all-time first aid facility, and fire alarm.

Attendance Tracking System


Tracking the time and attendance of the employees working for the
company can be a difficult task for any business. Careful records will need
to be kept to ensure that all employees are being paid the correct amount
on each pay check and their earned or taken sick and vacation time is
correctly logged. Keeping track of all of this information for each
employee can be a daunting assignment, but using HR software to assist
in the process can make tracking the time and attendance of employees
much easier and more streamlined. It provides customized reports for

review by HR personnel and department managers.managers. Also the
marketing managers make sure that I came
on time to make marketing outside the company.

Performance Appraisal

Performance appraisal system of Arabi Media Group is very efficient in terms


of evaluation. The main intention of the system is to evaluate the employees
performance of the job. Performance appraisal is conducted for an employee
after completion of one year service in the Company. Based on the
evaluation Arabi Media Group offers the employees Increment, if the
performance is satisfactory. If the performance is not satisfactory, the
employee may be warned for that and asked to perform better. The main
pre- requisite of performance appraisal is that, the employee must complete
one year service length in Company. Based on the performance, Arabi Media
Group also offers Promotion for employee.

Employee Relations
Arabi Media Group emphasis on wonderful employee relations with long term
perspective, so that the employees retains for many years. Arabi Media
Group is careful on ethics, justice and fair treatment for every employee in
order to ensure employee relations. In Arabi Media Group there are good
practices of ethics. There are several policies to ensure ethics, for example,

Department/selection

AMGs successful achievement based on the core team consists of dedicated


people with the right skills, experience and competencies to excel well in
their target. There are a few departments in the company such as Human
Resources and Marketing. Since I have been applied for the position as
Human Resources, thus I have been placed in the Human Resource
department. The department focuses on the development of the company.
During my internship there were a several times that I had to address out
any challenges or risk that will help them.

I help them to screen the resumes, interviewing, and also in the hiring
process. Learning through their scorecard, it helps me on how to improve my
capability in understanding the management of the company.

Communication/information technology

Communication is very important for business, so in the department of HR the communication


was classic and professional, Staff respects each other and they ask everything in polite way. I
was just an intern but I was respected as an official staff member. When they need my help they
greet me and ask nicely if I can help them even if they want me to go and buy something in the
shop but they ask nicely. I was free to work in some office and area to see how they work and I
can also ask question and they always give me answer in details. The department works with the
Marketing department and both communications formal and informal are used. Sometime they
can communicate by sign and gesture when they do want to move or they do want to disturb
others.

Normally the departments do use much of information technology to do their activities and
duties by using Microsoft word, power point and excel to write letters and demand, make

presentations slides and do some schedules and catalogues. They also do communicate more
with customers and organizations by (AMG) Gmail.

Nature of your work

As I had the chance opportunityopportunity ofto three month in length-


internship at Arabi Media Group. I have run over with diverse assignment
and activities that are led by HR division. I was acquainted with
employment of a HR staff, there were diverse sorts of occupations I was
made familiar. I was allocated to the accompanying employments
consistently.
Those were:
Recruitment and selection is often presented as a planned rational
activity, comprising certain sequentially-linked phases within a process of
employee resourcing, which itself may be located within a wider HR

Recruitment is the process of generating a pool of capable people to

instruments to choose from a pool of applicants a person or persons more

requirements. In setting out a similar distinction in which recruitment
activities provide a pool of people eligible for selection, Foot and Hook
(2005, p 63) suggest that: although the two functions are closely
connected, each requires a separate range of skills and expertise, and
may in practice be fulfilled by different staff members. The recruitment
activity, but not normally the selection decision, may be

Outsourced to an agency. It makes sense, therefore, to treat each activity
separately.

Tasks inclusion/ application of concepts and knowledge

I have got the chance to work in Arabi Media Group. As an assistant for 3
months from 24 October to 20 January 2017; its a part of my scholastic
project. As my course is international business management, I worked in
Human resource office as an intern where I had learnt a few Human Resource
practices of Arabi Media Group.

Collecting Bio data
For the Requirement for a higher position the CVs are gathered from outlets
basically yet candidates can likewise drop their CVs in the CV box at head
office, and for others positions the CVs are gathered through the occupations
road site and the CV box at the head office.
As I have worked for the most part in the requirement Associates, it was part
of my job to call the outlets and request that they send the CVs to Human
Resource Department. And for Furthermore assist i request from the Office
Assistant to gather the CVs from the CV box.

Screening Bio data


As Arabi media group was taking a number of workers, we got CVs in vast
amount. There were couple of ranges are to be considered while screening
the CVs, these were age, education and area. For instance a competitor must
be 18 years of age or above to seek work. For Accounting and capable
position the applicant must be a graduate undergraduate and applicant for
the Marketing position has be to savvy. For any assistant position must at
least be Diploma graduate.

Setting Interview date


Subsequent to Screening the CVs and grouped them into distinctive classes,
we used settle the interview date and advise the selected candidates about
the meeting. What's more, with the meeting i used to consult the Training
team about the preparation bunches and figure out the unfilled openings for
Training and finalize the interview and preparing group for the acceptance
candidates.

Calling for Interview
After the screening the CVs and separate them taking into account their
areas of expertise, it was my duty to call the candidates for the interview and
inform them about the interview date, time and venue. The interviews were
usually held in the meeting room of Arabi media group. After the interviews
then once again i used to call the chose candidates to inform the about their
selection.

Making Interview Lists


While calling the candidates I used to give serial number to their resumes in
order to easily to identify. after calling the candidates, it was my duty to set
up a interviews list which contained name of the candidate, father's name of
the candidate, instructive capability, address and contact number, there
were couple of segments left discharge for candidates signature, chose, not
chose and comments. At the base of the list name of the Human resource
officer and the concerned office director who were taking the interview, were
include.

Creating Employee Profile


The HR department of Arabi Media Group keeps record of their workers.

employees. Each new employee is assigned a PIN for their ID. The employee
record contains workers joining letter given by Arabi Media group, employee

In this chapter, I will reflect how I worked as a Human resources member and
Marketing. I will mention the experience I got through, reflecting the

internship.

Working as a Human resource at Arabi Media Group helped me create and


learn loads of things. As a Human resource, I worked in different zones where
I figure out how to do distinctive kind work. I portrayed in the past parts that
the internship and ventures that I have dealt with, are in the regions human
resource and others. The good thing is that these zones are all parts of the
learning I got amid my training.

This learning has helped me a ton with the Tasks that I have accomplished
for Arabi Media Group. I officially examined the structure of composing HRM
arranges. I figured out how to research the business, target gathering and
how to concoct methodologies. The learning that I got of my training has
truly helped me around there. The main region where I didn't have any
information of was the advertising arranging range.

Future plan for employees

While I was doing the internship change couple of thing in life I learn how to be patient with
other, and also when it comes for my future planning. In order to reduce my stress level at work
environment, I need to find a better opportunity to reduce my stress level to ensure that I can
work efficiency at my future workplace. Spending as internee in a different field of studies-
Human resource and marketing, which I had no much idea about was an eye opening move to
see how challenging working environment indeed is. At times, it felt like I could not do it
anymore-three long months, every day from morning till afternoon, sitting inside a cold office,
but at the end of the period I was able to learn as much as possible. I came back stronger that I
was before; I was able to master lots of communication skills that I always found difficult, like
talking to a group of people at one time, Writing emails, preparing documents, making phone
calls are other some of the major areas that I was able to hugely improve. I came to know who I
was individually, what knowledge and skills I had prior to the internship period, what skills I
needed to learn and how I should be a better in the years to come. In addition to that, I was also
able to draft my future plans. Earlier, when someone asks me about what are my future plans, I
used to tend to ignore such questions, and try to change the subject of the conversations. I would
always believe that the destiny is inevitable. Of course that is true but plan is always important in
the life of the mankind. As such, I have recently changed mind and my future plans are on a
written draft that is saved in my computers desktop and hopefully I will be successful for it.

I will apply the corporate skill that I learn during my internship to secure my future job. Before I
was doing my internship I didnt know how important it is to get experience before you become
employees. During 3 month internship you learn more than in class and what you learn you
practice directly. Before I start my internship I was worried and thinking about my first time in
the company how will be. I was afraid they dont like me and my worry was if I have given a
task to do work and I couldnt do it.

But I figure out that they could not even trust me for the first time to do thing instead they
showed me and explained me how to do it first. However, I realized that doing internship is not

about fulfilling the requirement of the University but it is for me to get experience in the work
environment. That what it can help me to get the qualifications of a work and be responsible with
my tasks and even with a company when I am a manager. For now I do not think those three
months of internship is enough to look for a job after my graduation. If I find an internship I can
do it for few month again and get more experience in working before I apply for a job because I
really need to perform well when I am working. It can help me to achieve in life by hired and get
more knowledge and also get high salary if you have more experience, in my country companies
like experience and easy chance to take you as their works.

A plan needs for securing good quality internships for future


students

A future student should be able to plan in which areas they interested with or
which areas need to be improved. Thus, the companies will be able to assign
specific task related to their field. The future interns should be able to keep
in touch with the university supervisor and coordinator to ensure that the
task given properly follows the correct track of the internship programmer.
While developing other important skills, soft skills should be enhanced as
well in order to add some extra point for the future careers. Not only that,
engagement with the corporation or the department inside the company
should be handling appropriately. While developing the skills, the intern will
be able to test their level of knowledge and significantly able to secure their
chance of employment in their chosen field. As the outcome, future students

might be able to receive an award or rewards based on their proper work and
their hard work. Thus, the student should ask the company to provide the
intern with the certificate or reference letter detailing the work that they had
done and skill or experience acquired. The students also should ask the
companies to give feedback on their quality thus the student will be able to
reflect the quality of internship that they had done.

Recommendations

One of the things that I pay attention during my internship was the
computers, During my studies I thought that I knew everything about
computers, but I figure out that in HR computers are necessary as computers
encourage the putting away and recovering of worker records, approach
data, and correspondence making an irrefutable paper trial. They perform
routine count precisely and quickly authorizing Human Resources staff to
concentrate on nonstandard figuring of pay. now days , they have likewise
brought down the expenses of representative preparing and improvement

Conclusion:

Overall, I had a fantastic and useful experience throughout this industrial


training. I feel extremely fortunate that I had the opportunity to improve my
knowledge and develop my skills in an international working environment
during my industrial training with Arabi media Group, The internship helped
me to find out what my strengths and weaknesses are. This helped me to
define what skills and knowledge I have to improve in the coming time. At
