4. LESSON SUMMARY:
Students will use the book Ralph S. Mouse and choose one character to compare and contrast
themselves to. They will create a Venn Diagram, pulling details directly from the text. The
students will then use their completed Venn diagram to write 2-3 paragraphs about comparing
and contrasting themselves to their character.

6. LESSON COMPONENTS:
a. INTRODUCTION/ READINESS
Tell students that we will be using our Ralph S. Mouse book, and the characters in it to compare
and contrast ourselves to them.
b. CLOSURE
9. Students will share what they wrote with a partner. Students should tell their partner one
thing they heard that relates to themselves as well.
c. ASSESSMENT
The students will be assessed on their completion of their Venn diagram. They should have 4
things for each section, send should have taken details directly from the text. The students will
also be assessed on their graphic organizer and final draft. They should include 2-3 similarities
and difference that they have with their chosen character.
