Unit: Roman and Greek Mythology

Lesson Plan: Advertising by Greek Inspiration

Objective: Students will gain a broader knowledge on a particular God from Greek mythology
and demonstrate their understanding through a creative presentation. They will be able to devise
a good or service of any kind under the knowledge and inspiration of their Greek-character.
Students will be able to collaborate in group groups of 4 to 6 students to creatively construct and
video-tape a commercial of their Greek-God-Inspired product. Students will be able to explain
how their Greek God relates to and inspires their product.

Prior Knowledge: Students will already be familiar with various Greek and Roman
mythological stories and the characters within them, having studied them throughout the unit.
They will know the main character traits of most Greek Gods to lay a foundation for seeing their
relevance in modern companies, organizations and logos. Students will have a basic knowledge
of various modern brands and logos found in the world of media from their television and
computer-browsing experiences. Students will have elementary acting skills, prior experiences
of filming through their phones, and have seen commercials on television to model after.
