Teach the way they learn

The March edition of INFORIA 2017 has also been received with enthusiasm by the
teachers.

Teacher of Shafiq Memorial Sr. Secondary School, Delhi, have shared with us their
thoughts on the content that they went through bringing out a beautiful
collaboration of theory and practice in classroom teaching.

Anjali talking about her feedback on Singapore's 21st-Century Teaching Strategies

says, In present time technology becomes a very important tool for grabbing
students attention and for enhancing learning. According to me, self initiation is a
very big step in learning process and technology provide this scope to the students.
So, it provides scope for generating and producing new ideas instead of just rote
memorization. Because of such a vast knowledge present around us through
sharing and collaboration which we get through technology, it becomes interesting
for students for producing new knowledge.

From Vaishalis point of view ..students are not consumer of knowledge

but they actually produce knowledge. Because it is reflecting that
students are not passive learners but they can actively construct their own
knowledge by acting upon the immediate environment and role of the
teachers is just to facilitate students in doing it. This video also represents
that as a teacher it is very difficult to assess all students of a single class at
the same time but by using technology, it becomes possible. Also if we use
this innovative teaching then it can improve enrollments rates of students.

Zeeshan has shared his view on the same content. I like the idea that Singapore
schools highlight and let students become the creators of their own knowledge!
This strategy requires a teacher to give up some control by letting the students self
direct their learning. Of course this requires some training in metacognitive skills
such as reflection and self-regulation.
Emmon shared her views on the video , "Can Technology Change Education?" by
Raj Dhingra. She strongly agrees with the presenter in the video that
spending is not the answer to bring a change in education. Self-paced
curriculum, blended learning, teacher-student collaboration along with
technology can change education. Technology also shouldn't be used in just
supplementary labs but should be used simultaneously while teaching in the
classroom. She talks about a section of the video where the learners who do not
have access to technology, but soon get access to technology and there is
student-centric learning. I felt a connection to this part of the video
especially as many Shafiq students are also from economically weaker
sections of the society. As they now have access to technology in Google
Future Lab in their school, they feel very excited to work on the
chromebook.

Radhika shares her views on the Blended Technology and Classroom

Learning by Jessie Wooley Wilson. I think teachers need to use technology
based on what they see fit, accessible and self-prevailing over their students.
It should be up to the teacher to decide what is best for his or her class
because in case, if teacher is not monitoring, students can take advantage of
the self-binding techniques of teacher. Role of Blended Technology cant be
ignored in this present era. If the students do not learn the way we teach
then we should teach the way they learn taking advantage of blended
technology.
