PART A: Describe how students could create and publish an original movie, audio file, podcast, or vodcast in order to achieve
required learning standards. Challenge: For an A provide an idea where the learning activity reaches a LoTi level 4a or
above. To do this you will have to design a project where students engage in higher-order thinking and publish their work to an
audience that will use or care about the results. Broad feedback for their work is also a great way to boost interest and
performance.
Students will create a audio file for their poem/song over the Civil Rights. The students should include the following
vocabulary words within their audio file, MLK, Rosa Parks, desegregation, Jackie Robinson, Jim Crow Laws, Malcom X.

Brief Description of Learning Experience: As you address the standards, what will students and teachers do? How will
the project be introduced? How long will it take to complete? What audience will use/care about the multimedia projects
students are creating? How broad is this audience? How will student work be assessed and by whom? Who will provide
feedback to students about their work? (Overview should be a minimum of 2 paragraphs)
The students will create an audio file for their song or poem over the Civil Rights Movement. The students are to create two 4-6
line poem or song over the Civil Rights Movement. The project will be at the end of our Civil Rights Unit. Any audience who are
interested in the Civil Rights movement will be interested in this lesson.
The students work will be assessed by the teacher based on the rubric given to the students in class. The students are to include
one of the following words in their poem, MLK, Rosa Parks, Jackie Robinson, Malcom X, segregation, desegregation. I will
provide feedback to the students as I listen to their audio file. However, the feedback will be given to the students in class.

Student Engagement/Higher-Order Thinking: What LoTi level would this lesson be and Why? This lesson is on LoTi
scale 4. Students are creating a product that is useful and meaningful to them. They are also able to share the project
outside the classroom by posting it on my blog website.

Importance of technology: Why is using a multimedia authoring tools critical to the project? Could the project be
completed without this technology? What would be lost without using it? What other types of technology, if any, are
going to be used in the learning experience? The students will use audacity to create their song or poem. It is critical because
they will be able to add music to their poem or song. This lesson can be completed without technology by having the students
create the poem in class.
Inspiration (optional): If you used existing multimedia projects as a model for your project (whether in part or whole),
include the URL(s) so we can visit. Explain what concepts you borrowed from others.
