98% ; trabalhei todas as diferenas. O trabalho destes dados ainda est em progresso. Os
resultados aqui apresentados devero ser entendidos como aproximados, e espero que sejam
apenas uma pequena parte do que ser, eventualmente, obtido a partir do material.
Abstract: I am interested in the study of transcripts and tapes of therapeutic interviews in order
to understand what theory means in practice, and to discover what therapists actually do. Out of
this interest, I have had transcripts made of my own work from time to time, for the purpose of
research and teaching. This paper is based on transcripts of 20 sessions I have conducted.
Eleven are demonstration interviews done in a class or set up for private videotaping and
nine are regular clients sessions.
I created a sub-sample out of the sample and made various ratings in order to produce
a summary of some aspects of the data. Reliabilities of ratings were both inter-rater and test-
retest type and in the 85%-98% range of agreement; I resolved all differences. Work on this
data is still in progress. The results presented here should be viewed as approximate and I
expect they are only a small part of what will eventually be taken from the material.

Neste trabalho a autora comea por apresentar o sentido do conceito de resilincia, da sua
origem metalrgica s cincias humanas, referindo tanto o seu interesse na investigao como
os mitos que sua volta se tm tecido.
Summary: Both resiliency and the actualizing tendency claim a major role in the growth of the
individual, throughout the course of his life.
In this paper, the author begins by the meaning of the concept of resiliency, from its origin in
metallurgy to the human sciences, referring both to its relevancy in the field of research as the
myths that have been woven around it.
The actualizing tendency, as a foundation for the person-centered approach, is inherent to life
itself. It is therefore indispensable to the expansion and the maturing of an individuals
potentials.
Finally, this paper is about situating both concepts within the frame of personal development,
unveiling a role that is very closed to both: resiliency as potential and actualizing tendency as
the motive force to dinamize it, through favorable conditions.
Abstract: The relaxation is presented as a many centuries practice, which has crossed the
most different cultures. It was introduced in the scientific world, as a technique, by Schultz.
Others, like Ajuriaguerra or Sapir, integrated the relaxation in the Psychoanalysis, as a
therapeutic method.
Were looking for a new approach, the most global possible, of the experience of the
person in relaxation world.
The relaxation is the way to owns body discovery, segment by segment. The
experimented relaxing effect, just as the different sensations, lead to a progressive self-
perception globalisation and harmony.
The transcription of a excerpt of a relaxation group unveil us about the clinical practice,
carrying us into clients journey, by and through their bodies, intending the discovery of their
way of being in the world.
