In order to interpret the gathered data, the researchers will be using a

tabular presentation to facilitate the study and interpretation as part of analysis

regarding the business problems encountered by women entrepreneurs in

General Santos City.

Research Locale
The study is to be conducted in General Santos City, it is said to be the 7 th

fastest growing City in the Philippines based on population census conducted by

National Statistics Office (NSO) and the most populous among cities in Region

XII with 594,446 inhabitants as per 2015 census. General Santos City is located

at the Southern tip of the Philippines. It is the commercial and entertainment

center of the SOCKSARGEN region and it has all the amenities of an urban

center. The number of women entrepreneurs in the city has increased as well.

Respondents of the Study

Based on the data given by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) as

of year 2016, among the (26) barangays in General Santos City, there are (453)

identified women entrepreneurs in micro enterprising. Out of these 453 women

entrepreneurs, 147 are from service industry, 271 from trading/merchandising

and 35 from manufacturing. The respondents were selected based on the

information provided with regards to the existing businesses owned by women

entrepreneurs having a capitalization of Php 3,000,000 and below. Out of the

total population of the women entrepreneurs in General Santos City, 100

respondents will best represent the whole population as drawn through the use of

a systematic sampling method. It comprises of 32 women entrepreneurs in

service industry, 60 women entrepreneur in trading/merchandising and 8 women

entrepreneurs in manufacturing.
The basis of the selection are the women entrepreneurs whose business

location is within General Santos City. Qualified respondents are the women

entrepreneurs who are the owner and manager of the businesses whom the

information provided are helpful in the fulfillment of the study. After collecting the

questionnaires, the responses will be tallied, computed, analyzed and recorded.

Instrumentations
The study will be using survey questionnaires (checklist) to determine the

business problems of women entrepreneurs in General Santos City. The

questionnaire consists of three (2) parts that will provide questions regarding the

business problems of women entrepreneurs. The indicators are taken from the

related literature and study.

The first part consisted of the business profile of the women entrepreneurs

next subpart that provides information about form of organization, type of

business, number of years in operation, and capitalization. The second part is

about the business problems encountered by women entrepreneurs in terms of

management, marketing, technical/operational, and financial. The first part which

is the business profile will be answered by checking the option that best

represents their response. The second part which is about the business

problems encountered by women entrepreneurs will be answered by checking

the given problems which corresponds to their evaluation. The respondents can

mark more than once.

Data Gathering
In order to get the needed information for the completion of the study first,

the researchers is going to search in the internet, magazines, books and articles

for possible information. Second, the researchers will look for women

entrepreneurs or female owned businesses located in General Santos City, by

obtaining a list of registered names of businesses by visiting the DTIs office for

possible respondents. Third, the cover letter for the respondents and the

questionnaire that contains guided questions. By the help of the questionnaire,

researchers can gather important information that is vital to the study. Fourth, the

researchers will visit businesses run by a woman entrepreneur and ask

information about the validity of the record given by Department of Trade and

Industry (DTI). And lastly, the distribution of questionnaires to the respondents.

Statistical Data Treatment

The data will be presented using tabular presentation wherein systematic

arrangement of the related data are given in each row and their subclasses are

given in each column in order to present relationships of the sets or numerical

facts. It includes frequency and percentage.

Frequency. A way of statistical data classification that allows comparison

of the result in each category. Also, it is in number of times that a certain event

occurred in the study. The researchers will use frequency in the study to know

how many women entrepreneurs encountered a certain business problem.

Percentage. It will be used as part of analysis regarding the business

profile of women entrepreneurs in General Santos City.

Ranking. It will be used to rank the business problems of women

entrepreneurs in General Santos City.
