30Ex and 40Ex Model Range
Fire Detectors
INTRODUCTION

The Ex model range re detectors enable protection of zones 1 and 2 in buildings, rooms and large spaces with gas and ammable
liquid vapour explosion hazard. They operate in detection lines of conventional control panel re alarm systems or in side lines using
addressable ADC adapters, always behind a proper spark proof separator.
The Ex model range re detectors are spot two-state detectors, which means they can work in two modes: Normal and Alarm.

Recommended installation detector bases: for 30Ex model range detectors G33, for DUR-40Ex detector G-40.
The TUN-38Ex detectors constitute an exception, which do not require an additional base.

The PUO-35 detector (with parameters identical to PUO-35Ex detector) is not manufactured as a spark proof device and is designed
exclusively for conventional use. It supplements the 40-model range as a detector identifying ames in a UV frequency band.
Similarly, the TUN-38Ex detector can supplement (in a conventional application) the 40 re detector model range as an A1S and BS
class xed temperature heat detector pursuant to the PN-EN 54-5 standard.

The Ex model range detector casings are made of black plastic.

granted a spark proof feature - II 2G EEx ib IIC T6.
Principles of operation
The DUR-40Ex is a Tyndall eect based optical smoke detec-
tor. Its operation is based on measuring infrared light scat-
tered by smoke particles (aerosol) entering the measuring
chamber which is inaccessible to external light.
A photodiode, a radiation detector located inside the meas-
uring chamber, does not detect infrared radiation emitted
by a transmitter an electroluminescence diode - up to the
moment when smoke particles enter the measuring chamber
scattering the said infrared radiation and directing it at the
receiver that generates an alarm signal.

The optical module is protected by a labyrinth, damping both

external and direct radiation of the emitting diode. When
smoke particles enter the optical module area, infrared radia-
tion (IR) is scattered by smoke particles. Part of this scattered
radiation reaches the photodiode.
The DUR-40Ex detector has a built-in self-regulation digital
system maintaining constant sensitivity despite progressing
dirt build-up inside the measuring chamber. After exceeding
a pre-set regulation threshold, the detector sends an alarm
signal to the control panel. This necessitates periodic cleaning
of the detectors optical system. The detector has a replace-
able optical chamber, which in the above said case may be
cleaned or replaced with a new one.
The detector is installed in the G-40 base.

40 MODEL RANGE FIRE DETECTORS
INTRODUCTION

The 40 model range re detectors compose a technically advanced group of two-state detectors, intended for early detection
of phenomena accompanying res, i.e. smoke, heat, and ame. These detectors, due to an analogue automatic sensitivity
compensation (they maintain constant sensitivity to progressing contamination in measuring chambers as well as to temperature
and humidity changes in the environment) are characterized by an increased resistance to environmental changes.

These re detectors are installed in the G-40 detector bases, which additionally may be equipped with the PG-40 water resistant
base attachments.

The 40 model range re detectors are designed to operate in detector lines of conventional and addressable (behind ADC-4001M
addressable unit) re alarm control panel systems manufactured by POLON-ALFA.

The 40 model range detectors are spot type two-state detectors, that is they can be in two dierent modes: Detection and Alarm.
The alarm mode is indicated by a ashing red LED diode on the top of the detector case.

The standard colour of the detector case is white. Upon customer request, detectors may be manufactured in any colour.

NOTE:
The 40 model range re detectors are electrically compatible with the 30-model range re detectors, and therefore they can be
placed in older systems after replacing the assembly bases.

Principles of operation
The DUR-40 is a Tyndall eect optical detector. Its operation
is based on measuring the infrared (IR) radiation scattered
by smoke particles. The main element of the detector is an
optical module, consisting of an electroluminescence diode
emitting infrared (IR) radiation and a photodiode being the
receiver of the radiation. The optical module is protected by
a labyrinth, damping both an external light and direct light
of the emitting diode. When smoke particles enter the area
of the optical module, infrared (IR) radiation is scattered on
them. Part of this scattered radiation reaches the photodi-
ode that generates an alarm signal.

The DUR-40 detector contains self-compensation circuits,

which maintain constant sensitivity during progressive dirt
accumulation inside the measuring chamber. After exceed-
ing a pre-set level of dirt build-up, the detector signals

works. The detector has a replaceable optical chamber, which
can be cleaned or replaced by a new one.
An additional optical alarm signal for a detector or group of

TUP-40
FIXED TEMPERATURE
RATE-OF-RISE HEAT
DETECTOR

Overview
The TUP-40 xed temperature/rate-of-rise heat (temperature)
detector is designed to detect a re hazard in indoor premises,
in which during the initial phase of a re excessive or very fast
rise of temperature can be observed, and where, due to exi-
sting conditions, installation of smoke detectors is not possible.

Principle of operation
The TUP-40 xed temperature/rate-of-rise heat detector
reacts to a rise in temperature occurring during a re. The
detector works as a xed temperature detector when tem-
perature excesses the threshold pursuant to a given class, and
as a rate-of-rise detector during a sudden rise in temperatu-
re. An electronic system with a measuring thermistor controls
temperature changes in the surrounding area of the detector,
which after dierentiating the said changes transmits an ap-
propriate alarm signal to the interoperating re alarm control
panel and switches on a red LED diode inside the detector.
A fault of the detectors thermistor is signalled as a re alarm.

An additional optical alarm signal of a detector or a group of

detectors can be obtained by connecting the WZ-31 alarm in-
dicator.

The TUP-40 detectors meet the requirements of the PN-EN

information from both sensors is subjected to advanced ana-
lysis by an appropriately programmed microprocessor, which
evaluates the re hazard.
The DOT-40 detector contains self-compensation circuits,
which maintain its constant sensitivity during progressive dirt
accumulation inside the measuring chamber. After exceeding
a pre-set level of contamination, the detector signals a fault

The applied microprocessor element and the appropriate
detector software guarantee, that the entire phenomenon

The detectors can operate in three operation modes. The de-
tectors alarm status is indicated by a red LED diode.

dard for class 2. Mass 0.2 kg

Principles of operation
The heat sensor is a thermistor, which reacts to the rise of
temperature occurring during the rst stage of a re.
The ame sensor is a Pyro Element especially sensitive to 4.35
m (spectral line of CO2) wavelength.
Detection of a re factor by the ame sensor causes the tem-
perature path sensitivity increase.
Both sensors constitute a detection circuit sending informa-
tion about re factor sources subjected to analysis and eva-
luation of a re hazard by the microprocessor controlling the
detector. In an event the pre-set increase value or the re
hazard threshold is exceeded, the electronic system of the
detector transmits an alarm signal to the re alarm control
panel.

Design
The detector has two sensors: heat and ame. These sensors
are located one above another. The construction and shape
of the detector enables for re factors to be detected by the
sensors.
The TOP-40 detector is equipped with an optical indicator
emitting a red light during a re alarm. It enables quick loca-
tion of the detector initiating the alarm and is helpful during
periodic maintenance. If the detector is not visible or is barely
visible, the WZ-31 additional optical indicator can be connec-
ted and placed in a well visible place.
The detector is installed in the G-40 base.
The TOP-40 detectors meet the requirements of the PN-EN
54-3 and PN-EN 54-10 European standards.

4043 MODEL RANGE FIRE DETECTORS
INTRODUCTION

The 4043 model range of re detectors is a new generation of low-prole re detectors, intended for early detection of the
phenomena accompanying res such as smoke and heat. The detectors are equipped to provide the currently measured analogue
value of the re factor. This product model range also oers programming changes (using the control panel software) of their
sensitivity level. These detectors cannot operate in an interactive mode.

Fire detectors in the 4043 model range are installed in the G-40 model bases, which can additionally be equipped with the drip-
proof PG-40 base attachment.

The above re detectors are dedicated to work EXCLUSIVELY with the POLON 4100 and POLON 4200 re alarm control panels of the
POLON 4000 re alarm system.

The standard colour of the detector case is white. Upon customers request, it can be produced in any colour.

Wireless detector adapter - ACR-4001

Overview
The ACR-4001 adapter is an addressable device, enabling
the connection of radio detectors (recognized by the control
panel as a branch of the monitoring line) to an addressable
loop of the POLON 4000 system re alarm control panels.
The control panel recognizes each radio detector with its own
address, declared by the ACR-4001 adapter as a separate de-
tector.
It is recommended to use the radio adapter and the detec-
tors in an event when leading monitoring lines to the detec-
tor is not possible, e.g., in historical sites, churches etc.

Principles of operation
The wireless radio detectors adapter ACR-4001 is a line de-
vice operating in an addressable loop, which monitors radio
detectors. A re alarm detected by the wireless detector is
transmitted through the adapter to the control panel, and
adapters built-in LED diode signalizes the alarm by a ashing
red light. Fault/damage of the radio detectors and a lost con-
nection with them is also reported to the control panel. In
that event, the LED diode ashes a yellow light. The fault/da-
mage of one radio detector has no eect on the operation of
other detectors interoperating with the adapter. The wireless
radio detector adapter is equipped with an internal short cir-
cuit isolator, which cuts o short-circuited detector line and
ensures that other devices function properly.
The isolation of a short circuit is signalled by a yellow ashing
LED diode, and information about the occurrence is transmit-
ted to the control panel.

Design
The ACR-4001 adapter is located in a plastic white case conta-
ining a basket, a cover, and a screen. The adapter is installed
in the G-40 base, to which detection wire lines are connected.

PRISM REFLECTOR PANEL

Overview
The E39-R8 prism reector and the 4xE39-R8 prism reector
panel are designed to operate together with the DOP-6001R
and DOP-6001 beam smoke detectors.

Installation
The DOP-40, DOP-6001R and DOP-6001 beam smoke detec-
tors interoperate with the reector/reector panel installed
on the wall opposite from the detector. The mounting surface
for the reector/reector panel as well as the detector must
be rm and vibration-free.
The prism reector is mounted either by being glued to
a smooth surface or by using two expansion anchor bolts.
The reector panel is mounted on a wall using expansion an-
chor bolts.
Precision positioning of the detector and the prism reector is
achieved by using special adjusting screws placed in detector
base and the reector/reector panel. The detector is equip-
ped with a special laser target pinnule activated during optical
beam positioning.
There are three screws in the reector panel to ensure proper
positioning of the reector panel in relation to the detector.
To ensure the proper positioning, an LS-40 service mirror sho-
uld be used, which is axed to the reector panel during the
positioning process.

BASES AND ACCESSORIES
INTRODUCTION

Fire detectors and other detachable devices (e.g. addressable ADC units) are connected and installed using proper bases.
The base model symbols provide information about the designation of the detectors:
- G-3x non-addressable base for the 30 model series detectors, e.g. G-33;
- G-40 non-addressable base for the 40, 4043, 4046 re detector model series and addressable ADC-4001M, ACR-4001 adapter units.

The bases are equipped with terminal devices, allowing for a removal of the detector only with the use of a special release key.

An additional WZ-31 alarm indicator may be connected to a detector base or a base group, which signals an alarm mode activation of
a detector installed in a non-visible place.

The G-33 base is designed to connect re detectors into re
detection and alarm systems. It is suitable for usage together
with PUO-35Ex intrinsically safe detectors.

Design
The G-33 base is equipped with four (4) terminals:
- terminal (1) minus detection line,
- two terminals (3 and 3), input and output plus detection
line, short-circuit through contact with the detector to ensure
line continuity (control of detector removal),
- terminal (2) for connecting the WZ-31 external alarm Indi-
cator.

The G-33 base is designed for installation of intrin-sically safe

WZ-31
ALARM INDICATOR

Overview
The WZ-31 alarm indicator is designed for optical repeated
signalization of the state of a detector or a set of detectors
in re alarm systems. It can be connected to conventional or
addressable detector lines.
This product should be used especially when an installed de-
tector is not visible, e.g. in spaces above suspended ceilings,
in cable ducts, etc.

Principles of operation
The WZ-31 optical alarm indicator signals an alarm mode of
one or at least one of the interoperating detectors by a red
LED diode. The LED diode indicator is powered by a current
owing through the detector in the alarm mode. In a conven-
tional detection circuit of re alarm systems the diode light
is steady, in addressable systems the diode emits a ashing
light signal.
The WZ-31 alarm indicator should be installed in visible places
on walls or ceilings.

The WZ-31 alarm indicator has two terminals:

The air duct detector housing does not include the detector
installation base or the detector itself in the order product
Principles of operation package and they should be ordered separately.

Air from the ventilation duct ows through the inlet tube into
the OP-40 smoke detector housing, and simultaneously into
its measuring chamber installed inside. If smoke appears in
the monitored duct, then together with an air sample it re-
aches the smoke detector triggering its operation, which in
turn initiates an alarm in the detector monitoring re panel.

The air duct detector base (including its inlet/outlet tubes)

forms an air by-pass system, which due to a small diameter
of the tubes does not disrupt the airow inside the ventilation
duct. Air velocity in the by-pass system is signicantly lower
than in the ventilation duct, what enables supervision of the
airow inside the duct.

POLON 4000 FIRE DETECTION
AND ALARM SYSTEM
INTRODUCTION

The POLON 4000 addressable interactive re detection and alarm system is a set of the newest generation units, intended for de-
tection of re in its earliest stage, giving the alarm signal to the proper services (e.g. Fire Department), and controling external re
protection units. The system is intended for protection middle, huge and very huge buildings.

The newest, evolutionary signal transmission protocol in detector lines enables interactive co-operation between line elements and
the control panel as well as between each other.
Fire alarm control panels can operate separately in installations of up to 1.000 line elements or in a hierarchical, ring structure
network in the case of large or scattered facilities. In this situation, the number of line elements connected to the system (POLON
4900 re alarm control panels) can exceed 31,000.

The system is supplemented by the POLON 4500, 4-zone automatic re extinguishing control panel.

The control panels can be manufactured in dierent language versions.

DAILY VENTILATION
SWITCHES

Overview
Daily ventilation switches PP-61 (on plaster) and PP-62 (in pla-
ster) are designed for manual control (opening and closing) of
ventilation windows and dampers used in smoke ventilation
systems. They can be used together with universal control
panel UCS 6000 manufactured by POLON-ALFA enabling this
panel to realize the daily ventilation function. The switches
can operate with control panels manufactured by other ma-
nufacturers.

Principle of operation
Daily ventilation switches are equipped with two buttons
OPEN and CLOSE which for opening and closing of re window
or re damper. Switches are also equipped with electrical
blockade which makes impossible use of two buttons at the
same time. Use of these switches is determined by the func-
tionality of the control panel they are connected to. Switches
should be connected to the control panel with accordance to
the manual provided by the control panels manufacturer.

VENO
INTEGRATING SYSTEM

Overview Hardware requirements

The integrating system VENO is a software for management - Processor Intel Core i7-3770 or higher,
of the building safety. Its integrate the following electronic - 4 GB RAM,
security systems: re alarm system (manufactured by POLON- - 500 GB hard drive,
ALFA), intrusion system, access control system and CCTV. Be- - Graphic card (depending form the number of used graphic
cause of the open architecture there is a possibility to add plans),
next system and their integration. - Network card 1Gb/s,
VENO enables to visualize all subsystems using multilayers - Windows 7 (64 bit), Windows 8
building graphic plans and to congure its particular ele-
ments. The software can be used to create single station or
multi station systems based on client-server architecture. If
the system operates as a client-server all data received from
dierent security systems are transferred to one station whe-
re are visualized and stored. In the multi-station mode data
storage functions are separated from visualization processes
what increases system safety and gives a possibility to pre-
view of the particular subsystems statuses on individual wor-
king stations.

Application
The software is scalable and can be use in every kind or object
apartments, public places, big industrial buildings etc. There
are four versions of the software dedicated for dierent size
of objects: small installations up to 100 elements (Standard),
middle-size installations up to 500 elements (Professional),
big installations up to 1000 elements (Enterprise) and very
big installations without any limitations (Innity). There is no
limitations for number of plans and alarming procedures. By
default, four client stations are supported with the possibility
to expand it by purchasing additional licenses.
