Quick Guide System 1200- Import ASCII Data


This guide will take you through the steps required to import ASCII data into a
system 1200 job, for stake out, control station co-ordinates etc.

Before proceeding to Step 1, copy the relevant file to the Data directory on the CF
card.

In the main menu, go to


2 4 Convert.

Then select 2 Import


3 data to job, then 1
Import ASCII/GSI.

Select Import type as


ASCII Data, then select
the file to import and the
job you wish to import it
to. If a new job is
required, then highlight
the job, press the red
Enter key, then F2
(NEW), enter the new
job details, then F1
4 (STORE), F1 (CONT).
You can view a preview
of the file to be imported
by pressing F3 (VIEW).
The Header field asks
how many lines are in
the ASCII file before the
first data line. In the case
of this example, there is
1. Then press F2
(CONF).
In this screen, you can
define the order of the
point information
contained in the ASCII
file to be imported. In
this case, it is a comma
separated file, the point
ID is in field 1, Eastings
in field 2, etc. At the
5 bottom of the screen
there is an example of
how the data is
presented. Press F1
(CONT) when you have
defined the correct order
to return to the Import
screen, and F1 (CONT)
to proceed with the
import.

The following status


screen will pop up. Press
F6 (YES) to return to the
6 main menu. You can
now proceed to the job
and make use of the
points.
