Employed techniques of DNA elution, polymerase chain reaction, and gel

electrophoresis
Extracted and prepared DNA samples from galliforme subjects over the Edwards
Plateau region
Collected serological samples and organize into a database with routine updates
Processed the samples by DNA elution using Chelex to separate the components of the
DNA from the blood and filter paper receptacle
Completed polymerase chain reaction to amplify the 292 bp segment of the LTR of
Reticuloendotheliosis virus (REV)
Employed standard microbial techniques to avoid cross contamination of samples
during DNA dilution
Analyzed the gel electrophoresis product to find confirmation of REV in galliforme
species in study
