Content Area/Grade/Standards/Topics Addressed:

SS5H5 Discuss the Origins and Consequences of the Cold War.

Brief Description of Learning Experience: As you address the standards, what will students and
teachers do? How will the project be introduced? How long will it take to complete? What audience will
use/care about the multimedia projects students are creating? How broad is this audience? How will
student work be assessed and by whom? Who will provide feedback to students about their work?
(Overview should be a minimum of 2 paragraphs)

The students will watch the project example that is created by the teacher, and the project will be introduced during class. The
teacher will discuss with the class what will be required of them when completing this project. This project will take three days in
and out of class time. Parents and teachers will care about the multimedia projects because it will encourage higher-order
thinking as well as creativity. Student work will be assessed using a rubric that explains in detail what is required and expected
from the project. The teacher will assess the project with the rubric, and will also provide feedback to the students about their
work.

Student Engagement/Higher-Order Thinking: What LoTi level would this lesson be and Why?

This lesson is a LoTi level 4, because the students will be applying, creating, and evaluating while working on this project.

Importance of technology: Why is using a multimedia authoring tools critical to the project? Could
the project be completed without this technology? What would be lost without using it? What other
types of technology, if any, are going to be used in the learning experience?

Multimedia authoring tools are critical to the project because it will be an online creation using multimedia such as audio and
video. The project could not be completed without this technology but there can be substitutions for this project. Students could
research using books from the library and create artwork or a poster following the same requirements from the rubric. If the
multimedia authoring tools were not available to use then some creativity and higher-order thinking aspects of the project would
be lost.

Inspiration (optional): If you used existing multimedia projects as a model for your project (whether
in part or whole), include the URL(s) so we can visit. Explain what concepts you borrowed from
others.

Internet Safety and Student Privacy: Briefly discuss some possible issues surrounding internet
safety and student privacy that could arise while implementing this learning experience and explain
how youd minimize risks to students/yourself, alleviate any fears by parents/administrators, and
follow school districts Internet Safety/Use Policy.

Teachers should make sure the websites students are using to look for their information are school appropriate and follow the
school districts Internet Safety/Use Policy. Parents should have turned in the forms requiring consent for their child to use the
internet and the release of their childs work or pictures.
