1) INTRODUCTION
The main criterion of taking up a project is to deal with some particular issue and
understand the underlying concepts within them. One such topic is a General Rules of
Interpretation.
The points have been clearly mentioned in the issues for project and it has been seen to
that these issues are reasonably answered in the project.
According to Salmond Interpretation is that process by which the courts seek to
ascertain the meaning of the legislature through the medium of the authoritative forms in
which it is expressed. Interpretation, as applied to written law, is the art or process of
discovering and expounding the intended signification of the language used, that is, the
meaning whichthe authors of the law designed it to convey to others.

2) SURVEY OF LITERATURE

This book highlights the basic meaning of Rules of Interpretation, some
illustrations. Besides it also states the articles whose reports were used to
evolve this term which in turn guides to make researched study of the topic.

3) STATEMENT OF PROBLEM

The application of rule does not contradict the literal rule provided that
the absurdity of the particular proposed application of the statute.
If one accepts the rule this involves rejecting Lord Diplocks opinion that
the injustice or immorality or the proposed application of the statute.
English courts do not permit themselves to consider the preliminary
discussions.
They will not look at debates in Parliament or in General.
They also not look at the reports of the commissions.
4) OBJECTIVES

1) Issue - What specifically is being debated?

2) Rule - What legal rule governs this issue?

3) Facts - What are the facts relevant to this Rule?

4) Analysis - Apply the rule to the facts.

5) Conclusion - Having applied the rule to the facts, what's the outcome?
