Title: PYP Coordinator

Reports to: Director


The PYP Coordinator is responsible for providing information, guidance and administrative support to
students, colleagues, the school director, and the community; and for the coordination of all PYP-related
activities.

The PYP Coordinator is the key person in the PYP and should possess excellent interpersonal,
communication and administrative skills; be IT literate; and have a strong sense of responsibility for the
academic needs and personal welfare of students. A fundamental understanding of IB program
requirements is essential.

Knowledge, skills and abilities:


Knowledge of PYP; Knowledge of instructional design; Knowledge of continuous quality improvement in
education; Ability to work collegially, collaboratively and cooperatively with all school personnel; Ability to
collect, display, analyze and interpret data; Knowledge of technology as an instructional and educational
tool; Ability to organize and prioritize tasks and duties.

Administration
Carry out the necessary tasks outlined in the IBs list of coordinators responsibilities, including payment
of invoices, monitoring of assessment deadlines, and dispatch of necessary documentation.
Ensure that the School and the students comply with all applicable IB regulations.
Make copies of relevant PYP publications available to all staff.
Counsel students on appropriate option selection.
Support teachers and students in the delivery of the PYP.

Curriculum
Assist teachers with the development of curriculum according to PYP standards.
Mentor teachers in the implementation of teaching and assessment practices that support the IBO
framework.
Serve as a program consultant to staff with assistance in the identification of program needs and the
selection of appropriate instructional materials, technology and equipment.
Assist in the evaluation of teachers.
Participate in the formation of the Schools strategic development plan.

Professional development
Ensure that staff meets the requirements of PYP and complies with all regulations.
Ensure that all PYP teachers are fully trained; assist in planning in-service activities; coordinate
professional training in PYP workshops for all staff.
Identify professional development needs and opportunities on and off campus.
Keep a record of workshop attendance and school visits.
Lead the orientation of new teachers into the PYP.

Resource management
Assist the Principal in identifying resource needs.
Establish an inventory of resources to facilitate efficient management.

Communication
Ensure effective communication and collaboration among all staff members.
Conduct parent information sessions.
Publish articles pertaining to the PYP in the school newsletter.
Prepare and circulate an annual analysis and feedback of PYP assessment results.
Circulate all relevant information received from the IB.
Prepare and submit documentation required for authorization and evaluation.
Act as the liaison between the school and the IB.
Provide outreach to the wider PYP community through OCC discussion forums, e-mail and school visits.
Establish/maintain links with other PYP schools in the region.
