1 General
Using a 360 and a 10 card, the analog Repeater Compass, Type 133 -- 556, shows the head-
ing determined by the gyro compass and transmitted electrically, in relation to GEOGRAPHI-
CAL NORTH. It receives the heading signal in absolute and clear values from the gyro com-
pass via an serial interface HEADING SERIAL*).

The following different versions can be configurated:

-- Steering repeater compass for gyro compass equipment STANDARD 20 without external
operator unit
-- Repeater compass for gyro compass equipment
-- Repeater compass for magnetic compass equipment
-- Repeater compass for gyro and magnetic compass equipment

Operator Manual
This operator manual contains all operating instructions as well as a survey of possible
warnings and alarms indicated on the digital display.

Service Manual
In addition to the operator manual a service manual is available. It contains:
-- information about installation and first putting into operation
-- information about maintenance and shipboard repair
-- a description of the repeater compass

2 Notes on the Operating Instructions

The operation is interactive (action reaction).

The operating procedure shown in the corresponding chapter is to be followed step by

step. When necessary, helpful information in short form has been added to the figurative
representation (symbols).

3 Switching on the Repeater Compass

When the supply voltage is switched on, the repeater compass is put into operation. Then an
automatic synchronisation follows:

(yellow) -- LED blinks yellow

-- The display shows

-- The cards run up to 0

If the interface is missing:

(red) -- LED blinks red

-- Display shows Con (see Section 6)

4 Signalling during Operation

With normal operation, the following can be indicated on the digital display:

Valid heading from the gyro compass

Valid heading from the magnetic compass

As a token of magnetic compass heading indication,

the last decimal digit has been changed into the de--
gree sign; the sign is flashing.

No valid heading

-- horizontal lines on the digital display

5 Additional Operations in Normal Mode

5.1 Dimming

5.2 Test

Press the keys simultaneously until

simultaneously and the digital display all light up
with maximum brightness.

With configuration the unit as steering

repeater compass:
-- an acoustic signal is emitted (conti--
nuous sound)

End the test by pressing the left key.

5.3 Correction of the Analog Indications (Cards)

Requirement:
The value of the cards does not correspond to the value on the digital display.

Indications Comments,

(yellow)
Press the keys simultaneously until the
display shows ; LED blinks yel-
low.

After the keys have been released:

simultaneously -- By means of one of the keys, ad--
just the cards for the digitally indi--
cated value:
adjustment of the 10 card
adjustment of the 360 card
(yellow, red, green)
During the adjustment, the display
shows , the LED blinks rhyth-
mically with all three colors in rotation.

Attention!
By all means set up the
scales to the zero value of
the display indication;
otherwise a wrong heading
value is indicated!

e.g.:
(green) 10 s after the last setting:
-- The function CORRECTION is left
automatically.
-- The currently set heading value is
assumed.

If the keys are pressed

down for a period longer
than approx. 15s, the ser--
vice mode will be activated
(LED flashing yellow). By
pressing the left key, this
mode is left again.

When a magnetic compass equipment

is connected, the tenth--of--degree indi-
cation appears so that correction may
be performed. Carry out the correction
as given below.

6 Fault Operation
Effect: The heading indication do not follow up the heading changes any longer.
Measures: Check connections, or call Raytheon Marine service.

(red) -- The red LED shows continuous light and cannot be dimmed.

Error types:
SCI: -- Serial interface defective or
or: -- transferred telegram invalid
Con: -- No data or
-- serial interface is not connected

7 Switching off the Repeater Compass

The repeater compass can be switched off by switching off the supply voltage.
