By acting upon the advice of the Guru, one can learn the recitation of Naam, whereas
acting upon our own instincts, we can go nowhere. Gurmukhs are enlightened as Waheguru
resides in their mind. (i.e. they are very close to Waheguru). They always remain contented as
they are always in tune with Him.
O brother! The comfort of becoming slave of Waheguru’s slaves is beyond imagination.
In reality Guru’s worship itself is his service (seva), but very few fall into this category. (Pause)
Those, who perform only those acts that pleases their Guru, their marriage with
Waheguru becomes everlasting. They are the ones who found an everlasting husband who will
neither die nor vanish. They have found their husband through the Shabad of the Guru and,
therefore, they will never get separated.
Waheguru is the purest and brightest of all and can never be realized without the Guru’s
guidance. One can not get convinced about Him by reading the scriptures as mere reading may
be just a show off and indulgence in illusion. Waheguru is always realized by acting upon the
instructions of the Guru and even the tongue experiences the sweet taste of Waheguru’s name.
Guru’s guidance directs us to easily relinquish our attachment to Maya. Without Guru’s
Shabad the entire world is wandering around in pain. Miserable is the condition of those who
keep following their own mind and are eaten up by Maya.
Through the Shabad, Waheguru’s Naam is recited and through the Shabad one gets
merged with Waheguru.
The Sidhas wander around under the influence of Maya. Even in Samadhi they fail to
concentrate. This Maya is pervading everywhere - in all the so called three worlds and is
clinging so hard that it is difficult to get rid of it. There is no salvation from it without the Guru’s
guidance and the duality created by it can not be removed.

After all what is Maya? What are its characteristics? Maya is something, which binds the
person to pain and pleasure and gives birth to ego. Neither the illusion of Maya goes away
without the Shabad (Guru’s guidance), nor the ego walks away from us.
Without the Shabad (Guru’s guidance) the love of Waheguru does not develop and
without love one can not devotedly worship Waheguru and fail to obtain recognition.
Shabad is the best tool to kill the ego and rise above the illusion of Maya. One can easily obtain
pleasure in Waheguru’s name by following the Guru i.e. by putting into practice the Guru’s
teachings.
Without following the Guru the knowledge of the high qualities of spiritual life are not
known and without adopting these virtues Waheguru can not be worshipped. The moment the
Devotee-lover - Waheguru takes a permanent place in our heart; His meeting (realization)
becomes very easy. O Nanak! Waheguru can be praised through the Shabad (Guru’s
guidance) only if His grace falls upon us.

O Maya! You have the resemblance of a fly. What a creation of Waheguru! A fly gets
attracted to the stinking smell of dirt and likes to sit on it. Similarly Maya likes the smell of vices
and loves to get intoxicated by the poison of vices. (pause)
Just like a fly, O Maya! You do not stick to one place. You like jumping around from
place to place and I have seen this characteristic of yours with my own my eyes. You haven’t
spared anybody from getting spoiled with the exception of saints, because the saints enjoy the
support and protection of Waheguru.
Through your false glamour, you impressed all the creatures on your side. None else
except the saints have known your realty. O Nanak! The true followers, like a slave, keep
themselves busy in the praises of Waheguru. They see their master - Waheguru by paying full
attention to the word of the Guru and bearing it firmly in their mind.

Maya has the mentality of a snake, who doesn’t hesitate to eat or bite those who serve
her. Those who follow the path of Guru or the expert snake charmers are rare who are strong
enough to trample her under their feet (or rise above its influence). O Nanak! They alone will be
saved who will remain attuned with the Absolute Truth, i.e. Waheguru - Akalpurakh.

Attachment to Maya is very similar to being possessed by goblins. So is the case of lust,
anger, ego etc. Attachment to these is responsible for our rotation into the cycle of birth and
death. To keep wandering in this cycle is the biggest punishment.
Those who follow the instinct of their mind and go after Maya in preference to Waheguru
are routed towards the birth and death cycle. They receive befitting punishment for their sins
and their cries of repentance are ignored.
Those, on whom the grace of Waheguru befalls, they are put in touch with the Guru, and
through the guidance of the Guru they can easily get across the ocean of Maya.

Maya is pervading whether it is an expression of joy or pain, whether it is a conception of

heaven or hell. It pervades equally upon the rich or the poor who feel happy whenever they are
glorified. It also pervades in the form of greed, which is the root cause of all the diseases.
In essence Maya is pervading in many ways. Only a saintly soul stays away from it as
they come under the refuge of Waheguru. (pause)
One is considered to be under the attack of Maya if one is intoxicated with ego, attached
to one’s spouse and family, deeply absorbed in the articles of luxury (e.g. Elephants, horses or
clothes), and proud of one’s beauty and youthfulness.
Maya pervades if one is: proud to be a landowner, rich or poor, deeply absorbed in
musical tunes, absorbed in the luxury of well decorated bridal beds and castles, indulging in the
five vicious vices.
Maya pervades when one does good deeds under the influence of ego, whether one is a
householder or practices renunciation, whether one is proud of one’s high character or high
caste. All these attacks of Maya are making our life miserable because we are not in love with
Waheguru.
Waheguru always comes to the rescue of His saints. How can the Maya attack them?
Nanak says, those who have learnt to walk on the footsteps of their Guru (i.e. those who
have obtained the dust of Guru’s feet), Maya can not even come near them.

As the heat in mother’s womb is unbearable, so is the heat of the Maya. There is a lot of
similarity between the two. This is the play of the Creator. One comes into this world by the will
of Waheguru and to the joy of family members. In the mother’s womb the unbearable heat was
tolerable because the fetus was in tune with Waheguru. After coming out of the womb, the
connection with Waheguru is broken and attachment with Maya began.
(When one gets separated from Waheguru, develops attachment to the world and falls in
love with anything other than the Waheguru is pronounced as Maya. Nanak says, those who
rose above the influence of Maya and became successful in getting in tune with Waheguru, by
the grace of their Guru, will have no difficulty in realizing the Waheguru.)

Fish in water is indulged in Maya. Moth is torn apart by the Maya of light. Elephant is
suffering from the Maya of lust. The snake gets caught because of its weakness for the Maya of
music and the black bee have to suffer because of its weakness for the Maya of fragrance.
O brother! Even though Maya is an illusion, yet its glamour is so forceful that all who
come near it easily fall into its trap.(pause)
The birds and deer are all under the influence of Maya. The Maya of sugar makes the life of a
fly so miserable. The horses and camels are all affected by it. The 84 kind of Sidhas who claim
that they have gained complete control over themselves also play the game of Maya.
The six type of Jatis, who claim to have full control over their sexual urge, in fact loose
their control and become slaves of Maya. The nine famous Naths along with the so-called Sun
god and Moon-god are all enslaved by Maya. The Tapas, who pose to have practiced austerity
and the Rishis who claim to be the most religious people or saints are deeply intoxicated by
Maya. Death as well as the major five vices all falls under the broad category of Maya.
Maya lures all the dogs, the jackals, the monkeys, the cheetahs and the lions. The wild
cats, sheep, foxes, trees and their roots are all under the influence of Maya.
Even the so-called highly elevated souls of the past known as Devtas - gods were fooled
by the glamour of Maya. So are the oceans, lands and the Indra - the god of rain. Kabir says,
whosoever has a stomach attached to the body is affected by Maya. The relief from Maya can
only be obtained when one decides to transfer the control of one’s destiny in the hands of Guru.

Man is in immense love with his wife. He feels pleasure in seeing his wife and children
and his attachment towards them keeps on increasing and so is the effect of illusive Maya.
He does not hesitate to go anywhere and to use any fair or foul means to grab material
wealth for their consumption. This material wealth is the cause of friction and enmity. When
such a situation develops, no one can retrieve him from it.
O Nanak! Apart from the attachment to the Name of Waheguru, all other attachments
are nothing but a source of trouble and deserve condemnation.

I tanned my body with the fastest dye of my choice. Yea, I picked up the dye of greed
and added to it another fastening ingredient called Maya in order for it to stay with me for a
longer period of time. How can I be acceptable to my husband - Waheguru, who does not
approve this kind of make up on my body?
They are the greatest. O Yes, they are the greatest, who are so much in love with You
that they always utter your Name. Those who utter your Name, O Waheguru, I am a sacrifice to
them always. (pause)
O my dear! If you really wish to tan your body, let me suggest the fastest color of all - the
Name of Waheguru. How great it will be, if the dyer - Waheguru Himself, applies this color of
Waheguru’s Name.
Those who have drenched their bodies with the color of Waheguru’s Naam, they have
come closer to their husband. If the dust of the feet of such people ever become available,
Nanak will immediately grab it because that is what he sought all along.
He - the Waheguru Himself brings us to life, He Himself dyes us with the beautiful color
of Naam, and it is in His hands to bless us. O Nanak! we merge in Him only when He decides to
accept us.

The utilization of Maya including what they eat and what they wear is holy for those, who
are deeply in love with Waheguru’s Naam, because they know their limits. Their homes,
temples, palaces and rest houses are all sacred if, walking on the path shown by their Guru,
they are dedicated to the service of the devotees of God as well as that of needy and poor.
Their horses, saddles, and other horse equipment are all pure & holy if, in line with their
Guru’s teachings, they are utilized as the means of transportation for the devotees of
Waheguru.
Blessed are all that is performed by those who always talk about that absolute realty -
Waheguru and His Name.
Those who have virtuous deeds to their credit they, through the grace of Guru, will get
the chance to meet the true Guru for guidance.

Cursed be the life of those, who failed to attune themselves with the True Guru and
failed to receive the Name of Waheguru in their heart. What have they gained in their life. Their
coming into this world has gone in-vain.
Maya is a fake capital which shows its true colors to its users. As soon as it slips from
our hands, we become so demoralized that our body gets darkened and our face looses its
luster.
All those who devotedly followed the instructions of the True Guru have achieved
absolute peace of mind. They are now seen singing the praises of Waheguru with devotion and
they always stay in tune with His Naam.
O Nanak! Waheguru has transferred this great wealth of His Naam in the Guru and is
now embedded in him. All those who obtain this wealth of Naam from the Guru, they enjoy its
fruits and flourish with it.

Even the crave of the biggest Kings and Landowners for the accumulation of Maya does
not subside. Influence of Maya upon them is so much that they see nothing beyond Maya.
No one has ever achieved contentment in this poison - Maya, as fire does not get
contented with any quantity of firewood. Accepting His will and singing His praises can only
attain the contentment, in reality. (Pause)
Every day one eats various kinds of delicious food; still the craving to get more & more
variety of food does not go away. In an effort to earn more & more, one roams around like a dog
in all the four directions.
Those who suffer from the Maya of lust, their desire to seduce other women does not

repentance is their daily routine. Their entire spiritual life passes away in grief and greed.

the heart of saintly people who are drenched in His Name.

O my mind! You are never tired of thinking about ways and means to commit sin. Even
to have illicit relations with a prostitute does not put you to shame. Under the influence of our
mind, we work so hard all day to earn money far more than what we need. When it comes time
to think of Waheguru to thank Him, we make lame excuses as if a severe lightening has fallen
upon (struck) our head.
Indulged in Maya, the entire world has gone astray. Yes, this is also according to His
will, that is why the entire world is clinging so firmly to Maya. (pause)
Our entire life passes away watching the various colors of Maya. In spite of our selfish
efforts we hardly could save a penny (worldly things) but loose a dollar (Waheguru’s Name).
Blinded by the attachment of Maya, we wander around, but never get time to turn our attention
towards the one who has created us.

the nectar of life - the Name of Waheguru, then why have you entangled yourself with the
poison of Maya. (pause)
You had come here to trade in Rubies and Jewels of Naam, but you have packed up a
bag full of stones and sand of Maya to take with you. You have never cared to keep in mind the
house, which is to become your permanent home and living quarters. You have never, even for
a moment, sang the praises of that Great Waheguru, who is eternal, indivisible and the source
of all comforts.
You are so preoccupied in matters of Maya that you never cared to know about the
place where you have to go and settle eventually. You kept yourself busy and entangled with
your wife & children as well as the materialistic possessions of your house.
After all what is there in the hands of human beings, O Lord, They do whatever You
want them to do. And when You become merciful, You bless them with the company of Guru. O
Nanak! Then they start on the right path of always keeping Waheguru in their mind.

Keep the memory of Waheguru always fresh in your mind. This is the job worth doing.
Snap off your bonds with Maya and come to the refuge of Waheguru, because these pleasures
of the world and the respect among the people of the world is of no avail and the entire set up of
this Universe is all illusion. (pause)
Consider this material wealth as the money you got in a dream. Then what is there to be
proud of? The entire earth, which can be compared to the wall of sand, which is bound to fall.
Even if you get to rule this earth, so what.
Nanak is trying to convince you about a very important point that even your body of
which you are so proud of is going to vanish away from you. And as yesterday has slipped away
from us bit by bit, so shall be the fate of today.

Even though we all know that Maya doesn’t go with us, still we are very much under its
influence. Only a few are blessed with this understanding and realization that the true wealth is
something else.(pause)
Make the concentration of your mind - the cultivator, your character - profession, and
water the farm - your body with the water of efforts. Throw in the seed of Naam, protect it with
the field-rollers of contentment and fence it with simple living. Then by the grace of Waheguru -
Akalpurakh, the love of God will take birth and grow. The homes, which have this kind of wealth,
are rich and lucky in real sense.
(For shopkeepers) Make each & every breath of your life as your shop, the Name of
Waheguru as the merchandise. And place this Naam into the vessel of your concentration and
thought. Then trade this great Naam with others of your profession (traders of Naam) and bring
home a decent amount of profit of Naam which will be a great source of joy.
(For traders) Be a real trader and listen to the teachings of great religious books. Take a
load of these teachings on the horse of high character. Take the food of good deeds for
consumption on the way and do not put it off till tomorrow. Let your destination be the country of
Waheguru and may you have eternal peace of mind.
(For those who work for others) Let absolute concentration in the task of Naam be your
service. The real run-around is attained when you gain control over your evil desires and then
only you will achieve recognition.

O my intelligence! why don’t you realize that Maya is a delusion? It is as short-lived as

the heat produced by burning straw or the shade produced by a cloud. Without singing the
praises of Waheguru, Maya is like the flood water to sweep you away from the Truth. (pause)
In order to rise above the influence of Maya, give up your ego and cleverness and
cheerfully accept to follow the Guru’s path. Be thankful to the omniscient master of the Universe
by keeping Him always fresh in your memory and take advantage of being born as human.
O foolish mind! you have heard the learned discourses of the spiritually enlightened
people, but you are so unlucky that you haven’t mended your ways. O Nanak! such godly
people are so much engrossed in the praises of Waheguru that their sins and vices have walked
away from them.

Seek the guidance of those who, walking on the footsteps of their Guru, have devotedly
remembered Waheguru. Guru’s guidance alone is capable of controlling the evil desires of the
mind. They are the richest who have learnt to concentrate upon Waheguru’s Name. Only the
perfect Guru can convince us about it and bring forth this understanding.
O my dear brother! Meditate upon Waheguru’s Naam. If you act upon Guru’s guidance
(Gurmukh), your hard labor will be suitably rewarded by Waheguru. (pause)
Those who analyze themselves and determine the state of their mind are pure at heart. They
are the ones who get to realize Waheguru and get saved from the cycle of birth and death. By
singing the praises of Waheguru intellect becomes sublime and the person becomes spiritually
sound and stable.
Waheguru can not be worshipped if one is attached to someone other than Him. The
Maya of Ego is the worst kind of poison. It is just like eating this poison. The attachment to
children, family and house are nothing but Maya. Blinded by the instincts of mind one keeps
coming back & forth into this world.
Waheguru Himself gives people the understanding of His Name and the people start
worshipping Him daily through the guidance of the Guru. Only a few will rely upon the wisdom of
the Guru and they are the ones who will eventually become with Naam.

I have seen the many faced Maya attacking people in many ways. Many have displayed
it by writing a number of intellectual articles. Many have achieved high positions like that of a
leader, a king or a chief yet they have not achieved contentment and Maya’s stranglehold
remained prevalent.
O Saints! Show me the way to achieve peace of mind so that this craze of Maya may
end and I may feel fully at peace and contented. (pause)

Many have ridden the horses fast like wind and had elephant rides. Many have applied
various kinds of perfumes like Attar or Chandan and have been in bed with most beauteous
women. Many have visited the theaters, seen the actors & their performance in the plays and
listened to their songs. Do you think they found peace of mind and contentment in these? No,
not at all.
Many had well decorated throne at the Royal court and the floors decked with exclusive
kind of carpets. They had all kinds of fruits and beautiful gardens at their disposal. They had
access to all kinds of royal sports including hunting. All these luxuries of life did not bring peace
of mind and proved to be utter failure.
Many thanks to the Saintly people who examined the above mentioned circumstances
and uttered the following truth: If you want to achieve ultimate peace and joy, sit in the company
of saintly people and sing the praises of Waheguru. O Nanak! Such a state of mind comes only
if we are fortunate.
One who possesses the wealth of Waheguru’s Name, alone has peace of mind. One
can get the company of saintly people only through the mercy of Waheguru. (pause)

Intoxicated with Maya, it is moving around like a drunkard. It is devoid of spiritual
wisdom. The Waheguru, who is free from the attachment of Maya, is residing so close to it, yet it
has not developed any love for Him.
As soon as this mind started paying attention to the teachings of the Guru, all its evil
thinking has gone away. Then Nanak realized to sing the praises of the fulfiller of all desires -
Waheguru, and thus salvaged himself from the fear of death.

Those who always keep the eternal memory of Waheguru in their mind earn eternal
respect in His Court. Through the guidance of the Guru, one falls in love with Waheguru and the
ego is removed. The wandering of this mind after Maya can only stop if & when His grace will
fall upon us.
O brother! Act upon Guru’s guidance and keep Waheguru’s name always fresh in your
memory. When the treasure of His name will start residing with us, we will be assured a place at
the feet of Waheguru. (pause)
Under the influence of Maya the bodies and minds of those, who follow the instincts of
their mind, are blind. Such people neither find the way nor the place to the eternal peace of
mind. They keep coming back and forth to the world like a crow of empty house that keeps
going from one place to the other but finds nothing whatsoever. By acting upon Guru’s advise
this mind gets enlightened and the specific instructions to recite Naam are obtained.
The victims are blinded by the influence of Maya, which attacks the individual in three
different ways. Those who are greedily attached to Maya may quote from religious books and
pose to be very religious yet inwardly they have absolutely no faith in Waheguru. In fact they
burn in the fire of desires and vices. They neither find shelter here nor there.
Under the deep influence of Maya, we have separated ourselves from the father and
sustainer of the Universe. Without (guidance of) the Guru everybody seems unconcerned
(although it is a matter of deep concern) and do not realize that time is running out. O Nanak!
The only way to get saved is to follow the guidance of the guru in relying upon the Naam of
Waheguru.

O my mother! I have found the true wealth of Waheguru’s Name. My mind has now

Ever since the true spiritual wisdom has taken birth in me, my desire to accumulate
materialistic wealth has walked away from me. Now the forces of greed and attachment will
never come near me as I have come under the protection of Waheguru, whose praises I
decided to sing. Ever since I found this great jewel of Waheguru’s Name, all my doubts, which
got hardened from my previous lives, got removed. All the cravings of my mind are gone and
now I am fully at peace with Waheguru - the source of all comforts. When He, the treasure of
mercy, Himself becomes kind to direct, we start singing His praises. Nanak says, this type of
wealth is achieved by only a handful of people, who work under the guidance of their Guru.

Why I should be afraid of the influence of Maya, when you are my master. I do not see
any reason to praise any one else as I do not see any one who can save me from Maya. If you

O Waheguru! I have seen that the attachment to anything else other than You is like

What should we tell and to whom should we tell whatever we have to say should be

O my restless mind! No one has attained the unique pleasure of the Waheguru’s bliss

This Maya is instigating people by showing its illusive charm and thus leading them
astray from the path of Waheguru. This cheating characteristic of Maya whereby it attracts
people through its fake charm is also His creation.
Therefore, I am a sacrifice to that great Creator - Waheguru, who has made the
attachment to Maya so sweet and attractive that people just can’t turn away from it. Nanak says:

O my mind! Dance for your Guru. Dance to the tune of your Guru - i.e. do exactly what
your Guru directs you to do, than only you will achieve peace of mind and eventually the fear of
death will walk away from you (pause). The real devotees are those, whom He makes them
dance His way. He himself teaches them how to love Him. He Himself sings His praises through
us, He Himself makes us listen to them and He Himself brings the blind mind on the right track.
The mind that dances to the tune of God’s will, will be able to save himself from the
clutches of Maya as the Maya can not intoxicate an awakened mind. On the other hand the
entire Universe is dancing under the influence of Maya and sings the song of someone else. A
person who follows the instinct of one’s own mind can not be a devotee of Waheguru.
All are dancing to their own respective tunes, whether they are those who follow the
godly way, those who practice renunciation or those who rely on their own wisdom. Also
included here are those who have worked hard to attain spiritual wisdom by following the
guidance of their Guru.
The entire Universe including the four sources of creation are so much under the
influence of three of the most predominant modes of Maya that they are all dancing to its tune.
But only those individuals are dancing to Your tune, who are deeply in Love with You.
They, who have obtained Your recognition are dancing in the real sense, because they
have adopted the Guru’s path of concentrating upon the Name of Waheguru. They alone are
true devotees and they are the ones who have real knowledge, who have learnt to accept His
will.
This is the true worship when one is attuned to the ultimate realty - Waheguru. Such
worship can not be performed without following the Guru’s guidance. When we kill our own
desires, i.e. free ourselves from the influence of Maya, then only we can come close to Truth.
Most of the people dance to the tune of Maya; there are very few who cared to find the
solution to real problem. By the grace of Guru, they alone can attain such a state of mind on
whom Your mercy befalls.
The moment we detach ourselves from Waheguru, that moment gets wasted. Let us
always keep Him close to our heart and He will Himself bless us in carrying out this task. They
alone perform the real dance, who follow Guru’s instructions and develop understanding of the
true spiritual knowledge. Nanak says: They alone will achieve ultimate peace of mind on whom
your grace befalls.

Overpowered by the greed of Maya, this human being wanders around day & night in all
directions. We are like a bond - servant who always carries someone else’s luggage on his
head. All those, who act upon the direction and guidance of the Guru are doing a job for the
benefit of one’s own spiritual uplift.
O my Waheguru! Break off these shackles of Maya and prepare us for the job that is
beneficial to us. A job in which we may get so much absorbed in Your Naam that we may
always feel pleasure in singing Your praises. (pause)
When a King employs a person and the service is performed to earn money. In such a
service, one always remains at the King’s mercy - He may put him behind the bars or punish
him. He may loose his job if and when the king dies. But blessed and most beneficial is the
service of the True Guru in which absolute peace of mind can be attained by meditating upon
Waheguru’s Naam.
We apply various ways and means to make our business most profitable. We are
overjoyed when we make profit and any loss in our business breaks our heart. But those who
make partnership with the Guru in the commodity of praising the virtues of Waheguru, they stay
always contented.
We can not get full satisfaction from the worldly tastes, because the more we taste them,
the hungrier we get. As we do not know how to select our tastes, we should take the help of the
Guru. Only those on whom the grace of Waheguru befalls, will assign their decision making
responsibility to the Guru (i.e. sell their head off to the Guru). O Nanak! Such a serviceman gets
fully contented by the most fulfilling taste of Waheguru’s Naam and never asks for any other
delicacy.

Maya’s influence is so strong that it is extremely hard to stop Maya from attacking

claim to be in union with Almighty Waheguru can not resist loving her. No one can snap off their
bonds from Maya, however hard they may try.(pause)

Mere recitation of the six Shastras and trips to various places of pilgrimage will not
lessen our love for Maya. Maya does not leave us easily even if we adopt basic religious rituals
like fasting, performing pooja or tattooing pictures of ancient saints on our arms and following a
strict religious routine.
O saints! The entire world is falling into the blind well of Maya, please give me spiritual
enlightenment and pull me out of this deep blind well. In the company of saintly people, Nanak
got salvaged in no time as soon as the realization of Waheguru came to him.

Maya has escalated his ego so much that he can’t even walk straight. He has
exchanged the most precious jewel - the Name of Waheguru for Maya which is not even worth
a penny. He keeps struggling to get a thing which parts company. He accumulates Maya in
vain.
O unfortunate person! Aren’t you ashamed of yourself? You have never borne in mind
that perfect and ocean of peace Waheguru. (pause)
I have seen with my own eyes the behavior of those who have broken their relationship
with Waheguru and got attached to Maya. Life giving sweet Nectar of Naam seems bitter to
them and the poison of Maya appears sweet to them. Such is the condition of these Sakats.
They enjoy talking about deceit, treachery and flattery. But the Name of Waheguru or any talk
about Waheguru turns them off as if a scorpion has stung them.
Such people are always worried about Maya and they never ever praise Waheguru with
their mind or their tongue. They are so uncivilized in their approach that never fall in love or
appreciate the one who is fearless, formless and compassionate.
He is the King of Kings. He is the perfect king because He is sovereign in real sense.
We are intoxicated with Maya and absolutely attached to Maya. We can only get out of it and
saved by your grace only.

My mind is so much engrossed in Maya that I have forsaken the Name of Waheguru.
Nanak says, what good is this life without singing the praises of Waheguru.
Waheguru does not come to the minds of human beings because they are deeply
intoxicated by Maya. Nanak says, they keep falling into the trap of death and keep rotating into
the most painful cycle of life and death because they do not sing the praises of Waheguru.

In one vessel they have the chicken meat and another vessel contains the alcoholic
drink. And the five notorious yogis - the lust, anger, greed, attachment and ego, who are
responsible for attaching people to Maya, sit around these vessels. Right in the center is seated
the cunning-most shameless queen - Maya.
And look here, everyone is dancing to the tune of this shameless queen - Maya. Every
one seems to be riding on the bandwagon of Maya. Very few are the enlightened souls who
could resist this temptation. (Pause)
Maya resides in every one. She is on a hunting spree to kill our spiritual instinct to sway
us towards her. It appears as if she is saying: “ I am either your sister or sister’s daughter for
whom you are always obliged to bring gifts and from whom you have nothing to gain. But if you
decide to marry me, I will become your slave.”
“My husband - Waheguru is superbly wise and He alone is called the Saint. He is the
only one who can control me and no one else has even the courage to come near me.”
Kabir says: Maya is the enemy of saintly people who are in search of realizing
Waheguru, that is why they have cut off her nose and her ears and have thrown it out of the
sphere of their influence. Yes, Maya is the enemy of saints but is the favorite of all the creation
of the world.
