The features in this release are compatible with the WR850G Wireless Router.

Changes in Release
Port Trigger functionality enhanced to improve interoperability with online, multiplayer
games.
DHCP client lease information now stored in NVRAM. When the WR850G is restarted the
old lease information is retained.
Network Time Protocol (NTP) server fields no longer include default settings.
An NTP server provides current time information. The WR850G uses this information as
part of the day and time control for the Parental Control and Virtual Server features. This
information also provides time stamps for the event logs.
There are a number of public NTP servers that can be reached over the Internet which have
open access policies. However, in an increasing number of cases, these servers are
restricting access to users within a given distance of the server location, defining a regional
Service Area. It is therefore advised that you use an NTP server appropriate for your
location.
This firmware update has no effect on an existing user configuration unless the unit is
reset to default values. If that occurs, the user will have to re-enter the NTP servers
manually.
In any event, confirm that the NTP server selected is still appropriate for your location.
A listing of public NTP servers, their access policies, and their Service Areas can be
found through the following URL: http://www.ntp.org.

How to Upgrade
To upgrade from release 2.0 or 3.05:
1 Download the files from the Motorola website at the following link:

2 Log in to your WR850G and click Control Panel > Firmware Update to access the
Firmware Update screen:

3 To locate the file you downloaded, type the path to the file or click Browse and navigate to
it.
4 Click Update to update the router with the selected firmware file.

5 Follow the prompts to restart the WR850G.

At the completion of the Firmware Update, you are prompted to click Restart on the Web-based
Configuration utility. In some situations, the WR850G may not actually restart. You should
unplug the WR850G, wait 5 seconds and plug it back in.
If Error on Page errors are encountered when trying to access tabs on the WR850G Web-based
Configuration utility after upgrading from Release 2.00, close your Web browser and restart.
