RESPONSIBILITIES
3.1) The General Manager of FORJA NEPTUN SRL shall appoint the NDT Level III person, upon the Quality
Manager documented recommendation. This one shall take into account the applicable procedure used for the
certification of NDT Level III and the personal file associated with.
3.2) The Quality Manager shall certify all NDT personnel, upon the NDT Level III documented recommendation.
He may engage an outside agency providing Level III services meeting the requirements of this written practice,
but he retains the responsability for certification.
3.3) The NDT Level III, in the methods he is certified, shall prepare and conduct the personnel training program for
certification and he is responsible for administrating and grading the examinations for NDT Level I, II, or other
Level III personnel. As an exception, if the Level III person has not a valid certification for VT method, it is
accepted to perform the above duties if he holds a valid Level III PT/MT certification and he is qualified as welding
inspection engineer.
NONDESTRUCTIVE TESTING METHODS
4.1)The qualification and certification of NDT personnel in accordance with this procedure are applicable to each
of the following methods:
- Visual Test (VT), performed by eye and without visual aids (except light source, mirrors for improving the
angle of vision, and/or corrective lenses);
- Liquid Penetrant Test (PT), using color contrast and fluorescent materials, water washable;
- Magnetic Particle Test (MT), using yoke technique with both fluorescent and color contrast magnetic
particles;
- Ultrasonic Test (UT), using manual direct contact pulse-echo technique.
LEVEL OF QUALIFICATION
5.1) There are three basic levels of qualification for NDT personnel, as specified in Table 1 below.
Level Requirements
I - properly perform calibrations specific to the method;
- perform tests specific to the method;
- perform specific evaluation according to written instructions;
- record test results.
Note: Level I NDT personnel shall be instructed and supervised by a certified Level II or III individual.
II - adjust and calibrate the equipment;
- interpret and evaluate the results, according to applicable codes, standards and specifications;
- shall be thoroughly familiar with the scope and limitations of the methods for which they are qualified.
- shall exercise assigned responsibility for on-the-job training and guidance of trainees NDT Level I
personnel
Note: Level II NDT personnel shall be able to draw up and report the NDT results.
III - shall be capable of developing, qualifying and approving procedures, establishing and approving
testing techniques;
- interpret codes, standards, specifications and procedures;
- designates the particular test methods, techniques and procedures to be used;
- shall be responsible for NDT testing he is qualified for and assigned to;
- shall be capable of interpreting and evaluating results in terms of applicable codes, standards and
specifications;
- shall have sufficient practical background in applicable materials, fabrication and product technology
to establish techniques and acceptance criteria when none are otherwise available.
Note: NDT Level III shall have general familiarity with other appropriate NDT methods.
The NDT Level III, in the methods in which is certified, shall be capable to train and examine NDT
Level I and Level II personnel for certification in these methods.

TRAINING PROGRAM
7.1) The personnel considered for certification shall complete sufficient organized
training based on a curriculum to ensure the candidate is thoroughly familiar with the principles and practices
of the applicable specified NDT method related to the level of certification intended and applicable to the
techniques to be used and the products to be tested.
7.2) The training program shall be approved and conducted by the NDT Level III
responsible and shall include sufficient examinations to ensure understanding of the necessary information.
EXAMINATION FOR CERTIFICATION
8.1) Vision Examinations.
a) The NDT personnel shall be subject to vision examinations which:
- shall demonstrate natural or corrected near-distance acuity which enables the applicant to read at least
Jaeger No. 2, except the VT personnel where Jaeger No.1 is required, at a distance of at least 30,5 cm;
equivalent near vision tests are acceptable.
- shall demonstrate capability of distinguishing and differentiating contrast among colors for methods PT

8.2.3) The min. number of questions of the written examination for level III, for all methods, is listed in Table 6.

Notes:
a) The basic knowledge examination (required only once when more than one method examination is
taken), The minimum number of question is as follows:
-15 questions relating to understanding of the SNT-TC-1A;
-20 questions relating to applicable materials, fabrication and technologies used;
-20 questions relating to other appropriate NDT methods.
Method Examination (for each method). The minimum number of question is as follows:
-30 questions relating to fundamentals and principles;
-15 questions relating to the application and establishment of techniques and procedures;
-20 questions relating to the capability of interpreting codes, standards and specifications.
c) Specific Examination (for each method) consists in 20 questions relating to specifications, equipment,
techniques, applicable procedures and administration of this written practice.
8.2.4) Examination for certification, for Level I and II, shall consist of:
a) General Examination - shall refer to the basic principles of the applicable method;
b) Specific Examination - shall refer to the equipment, operating procedures and NDT techniques;
c) Practical Examination - shall demonstrate familiarity with and the ability to operate the necessary NDT
equipment, record, and analyze the resultant information. At least ten check points shall be included in
this practical examination, including check points that failure to succesfully complete will result in failure
of examination.
Notes:
- The Level I Practical Examination: Proficiency shall be demonstrated in performing the applicable
NDT on one or more specimens.
- The Level II Practical Examination: Proficiency shall be demonstrated in selecting and performing the
NDT technique corresponding to the method and interpreting and evaluating the test results on one or
more specimens.
- After the Practical Examination, the description of the specimen, the test procedure, the check points

OPERATING PROCEDURE
12.1 All Level I, II and III personnel shall be recertified according to one of the following criteria:
- Evidence of continuing satisfactory technical performance;
- Reexamination in those portions of examinations in Chapter 8 deemed necessary by the NDT Level III.
12.2 The recertification interval is 5 (five) years for all certification levels.
TERMINATION
13.1 The certification is deemed revoked when employment is terminated.
13.2 A Level I, Level II, or Level III whose certification has been terminated when leaving another company may be
certified to the former NDT level by FORJA NEPTUN SRL, based on examinations as described in Chapter 8,
provided all of the following conditions are met.
- the employee has proof of prior certification;
- the employee has worked in the field and level of initial certification for six months before termination of
the contract;
- the employee is being recertified within six months of termination.
