WEBSITE AND CLASSROOM BLOG CREATION TOOLS

Directions: Using the template below, describe how students could use a blog, wiki, or other website-
creation tool to learn required learning standards in your content area: For an A grade provide an idea that
reaches a Level of Technology Implementation of 4 or above. Remember higher levels (4-6) require that
students assume adult/professional roles; engage in higher-order thinking; and use technology
create/publish original content for their classmates and/or others beyond their school/classroom. The
learning activities and products should be engaging and meaningful to the students and to others who will
view/use/benefit from students work. Review your handouts on Engaged Learning, Authenticity, and LoTi.

enjoyment, challenge, self expression, and/or socialinteraction.
Brief Description of Learning Experience: The blog is helpful for the students and the teacher. The
teacher can upload content, address what will be covered in class the coming days, and to review what the
class has done in previous classes. It is just another way for teachers to connect with their students outside
of the classroom.

For students the blogs are important because it could be the way that they access their homework.
Students could use digital copies instead of having to use paper copies. Also it is a great tool for the parents,
they can go on to the blogs and see what their kids have been doing in school, what progress they have
made, and what is coming up in class. Blogs are just a win-win for everyone involved.

Why? LoTi 2, Students will be able to use a computer or tablet to access my blog, after that the students
will have no involvement with the blog as far as creating.

Importance of technology: Why is using a website-creation tool critical to the project? Could the project
be completed without this technology? What would be lost without using it? What other types of
technology, if any, are going to be used in the learning experience? The internet is critical for this blog.
Students must have internet access to receive their class updates and any homework that would be due.
Inspiration (optional): If you used existing example as a model for your project (whether in part or
whole), include the URL(s) so we can visit. Explain what concepts you borrowed from others.

Internet Safety and Student Privacy: The fears that come up with a blog is having pictures and names of
students up on the blog. The way to address this issue is to ask the parents upfront if it is ok to have pictures
and the names of the students on my blog.

Describe your personal learning goal for this activity. I have never created a blog before, so I found it to
be interesting. There is also the realization that I can save so much paper and copies by simply using a blog
and I am really excited about that.
