Renaissance/Reformation era.

Estimated Duration:

I plan on dividing the lesson into three days, with each class period lasting 55mintues.

165 minute lesson with roughly 55 minutes over the course of 3 days

Commentary:
My approach to this lesson is simple, students tend to take interest in topics/subjects when they learn
interesting facts. Within my pre assessment I plan to include interesting facts and something the students can
relate to. My challenge for the lesson would be how students choose their historical figure.

Instructional Procedures: (This will be one of the most detailed sections of this assignment).

During introductions students are to remain active and participate in dialogue. They are also expected to stay
on task while doing research, no online games or music at this time they are asked to stay on task and focused

Scoring Guidelines:
This pre-assessment will be in the form of a quiz which I can observe students as they complete the
assessment. Students will be grade on the number of questions they answer correctly. I will be
monitoring to see if students are using context clues of guess for the correct answer.

Post-Assessment:
On day 3 students will demonstrate what they have learned about one of the following historical figures
(Galileo, Henry XIII, John Calvin, Bloody Mary and Martin Luther.) of the Renaissance/Reformation era.
They will tell what role they played during the time period and how effective they were.

Scoring Guidelines:
Students will be given a percentage for their final project. Their digital posters will be graded on the
amount of information provided, sources, creativity, participation, and accuracy.

Differentiated Instructional Support

Students will have guided questions to help with their research. I will differentiate for my struggling students
by providing them step-by-step instructions on how to use tech and a task list so they can monitor their
progress. I will also differentiate by changing the learning environment by creating mixed ability groups.

Student will also have sentence starters for what to mention in their presentations,

Extension
http://www.corestandards.org/ELA-Literacy/SL/7/4/ - This website allows the student to understand that the
standard is all about the importance of speaking & listening.
https://quizlet.com/179261954/chapter-6-developing-your-speech-flash-cards/ - Allows student to see others
understanding of how to develop a speech/presentation.

Homework Options and Home Connections

Students will choose an individual they did not research and would like to learn more about. Student will
complete an online google forum about that individual providing what they already know and what they want
to learn about that individual for homework and returns with it by the following day.

Interdisciplinary Connections
My current lesson is already integrated with social studies & Ela. I could integrate it with a brief science lesson
hitting on some of the scientist during the Renaissance/Reformation era. This min lesson could tell some of the
work they did and how it intertwines with today.
