CONTEXT

Business Improvement in conjunction with Technical and Sustainability is undergoing organisational


transformation with the aim of catalysing step changes in our business performance. The Business
Improvement discipline is expected to mobilise critical skills and pathways to capture improvement
opportunities across the business including the introduction of the Anglo Operating Model (AOM) as a
strategic company-wide initiative designed to transform functional and operational delivery to improve Stability,
reduce Variation and enhance Clarity. Through designing work processes that deliver greater predictability
(Purpose) with less wastage (Variation), the AOM will enable assets to realize full potential in a more effective,
sustainable and efficient way. This will be further complemented by the implementation of effective operational
process controls, rigorous data analysis and capacity building programmes in Copper Business.
PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

To provide specialist support during the implementation of approved site-based business improvement project
interventions ensuring consistency with the Anglo Operating Model principles to drive sustainable business
results. Focus in Feedback element of Operating Model (Measures and Analyse & Improve)

AOM Project Establishment & Implementation


Analyse and advise on the integration of new ways of working by BI project implementation
assessing its impact on related production processes, scope, budget and risk
installations, etc. and advise operational leadership on mitigation schedule

Assess the effectiveness of the project during and post-delivery,
and recommend improvements or redesigns for future

engagements, incorporating applicable SHE considerations and
critical risk controls into design and delivery work and actively

Maintain and support the development of a AOM Best Practice

incorporated into the AOM execution and management phases

Develop a number of tangible examples that will assist the Functional Best Practice and

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
QUALIFICATIONS Essential
An undergraduate qualification (Bachelors / Honours degree or equivalent) in a
relevant technical discipline (mining, processing, chemical engineer, industrial,
civil)
Business Optimisation discipline Operational experience in application of all skills
associated to the discipline.

Recommended
A postgraduate qualification (Masters / Doctoral degree or equivalent) in a relevant
technical discipline OR a proven track record
EXPERIENCE Track record in understanding the Value chain in the copper business, from
exploration to commercial.
Track record of acting as a company-wide, internal thought leader in a technical
discipline and/or Business Improvement related field.
Track record of operational experience within a large global multi-commodity
mining, manufacturing or related industry (Copper :mining, concentrator smelting
and leaching process)
A demonstrated understanding of most of the technical aspects of processes
comprising the typical mine value chain
Successfully executed complex system, capital and/or management of change
projects
Demonstrated experience in a senior people leadership role within a technical
environment, including the coordination of knowledge sharing across disciplines,
managing workload and reviewing the work of others to ensure consistency with
task requirements.
Understand the potential of optimisation, statistical, simulation and financial
software.
