Ihaverecentlyboughta2007ToyotaAurionSportivoSX6ithas150klm's
onthespeedo.

Allisgooddrivingaroundtown,howeverwhentravelingonthehighwayat
speedsof100110km/hrafterabout20minutesifIstopatarestcenter
RegularMember andthentakeoffoutintothetrafficuponacceleratingthereisahuge
0 amountofexcessiveexhaustsmoke.

Hesaidthatthemotorlooksallokandtheyarehappythatitshouldbefine
now,wantstokeepitforanothernighttogiveacoldstartinthe
morning.Theyhavehaditforthreedayssohopefullyallshouldbegood.I'll
goforanothertriptotestitalloutandletyouknowhowitallendsup.

the2GRFEenginesarepronetoenginesludgeespeciallyifpoorquality
engineoilshavebeenusedornotservicedproperly.AfterafewGoogle
searches,Ifoundapostthatexplainedthatenginesludgewasblockingoil
channelsandpreventingtheoilfromdrainingproperlyfromthevalve
covers,ThePCVvalveisthensuckingtheoilintotheintakeandthis
RegularMember explainswhythereisexhaustsmokewhenyoufirststarttheengine.Later
6 onatriptoWaggaWagga,Inoticedasignificantbluesmokescreenwhen

Beforedismantlingtheengine,Ihavedesludgedtheengineafewtimes.
DuringthereturntripfromWaggaWaggatoBrisbane,Iaddedabout500ml
ofdieselbeforeleavingandagainafter600km.Thenewengineoilwas
totallyblackandthenewoilfiltercartridgewascloggedwithsmallblacksoot
likeparticles.Ireplacedtheengineoilandfiltercartridgeplus500mlof
dieselandcheckedafter500km.Againtheoilfiltercartridgewasblocked
withparticlesandtheengineoilreplaced.AfterfurtherGooglesearches,I
foundapostingsuggestingusing500mlofautotransmissionfluidforoil
sludgeremovalasanalternativetodieselbecauseitcontainscleaning
additives.IdidthisandafterrecentlyreturningfromanothertriptoWagga
Wagga[2600KM],Ihavejustreplacedtheoilfiltercartridgeandtoppedup
theengineloilevelwithmoreATF.Insidethevalvecoverandsideofthe
valvetrainistotallycleanwithnoevidenceofoilsludge.Theexcessive
exhaustsmokeisnowtotallygone.MoreGooglesearchessuggestedusing
asyntheticoiltoreduceandminimiseoilsludge.
 AlsoaccordingtoanexToyotaDealershipworker,the2GRFEengines,if
properlymaintained,shouldlastabout400,000kmbeforerequiringany
rebuildwork.

Somaybethedealershouldconsideraddingacommercialengineflush
productandhaveyoudrivearoundfor125kmbeforereturningthevehicle
foranotheroilandfilterchange.Thisshouldrevealwhetheritisanoil
sludgeissueorthevalvesealsdoneedtobereplaced.
