“Fragile”
‘At the Opening Ceremony of the 2002 Winter Olympics in Sale
Lake City, the Mormon Tabernacle Choir and Utah Symphony
joined with Sting and Yo-Yo Ma in a performance of Sting’s 1987
song “Fragile.” With 34 Grammy awards between them, Sting and
Ma represent a pinnacle of crossover popularity and achievement,
‘Ma’ staggering versatility, expressed through his Silk Road Enscm-
ble and other projects, matched perfectly with Sting's corresponding
commitment to genre- and culture-crossing musical endeavors.
Recalling his experience with the Choir, Sting said that at the first
rchearsal, “I began the song, and then this sound filled the room.

David Foster is unquestionably one of the pop world’s: most
influential songwriters and producers, and over the last decade or so
has collaborated with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir on several
projects. In 2009, while visiting Sale Lake City and its famed
Tabernacle, he volunteered to play piano for the Choit’s recording of
“The Prayer,” an award-winning song Foster co-wrote with Carol
Bayer Sager. “It’s always been a goal of mine to work with the

Amy Grant is one of the leading recording artists of her generation,
and a gifted singer/songwriter in a variety of genres from
contemporary Christian to soft rock, In 2016, Grant returned to
Utah to film a Christmas special for BYUty, performing with
longtime colleague Michael W. Smith and the 2015 winner of The
Voice, Jordan Smith (whose 2016 Christmas album also featured the
Mormon Tabernacle Choir). As they join forces in this performance

A few years ago Rolling Stone magazine named singer-songwriter
James Taylor to its pantheon of 100 Immortals,’ alist of the greatest
vernacular musicians of all time. After years of planning, Taylor was
finally able to perform with the Choir and Usah Symphony in 2013.

From The Lion King
In 2013, Santino Fontana created the role of Prince Topher in the
Broadway production of Cinderella and provided the voice of Prince
Hans in Disney's hit movie Frozen. Fontana first sang with the
Choir at the summertime Pioneer Day concert the following year,
then returned in December 2014 to anchor the Choir's Christmas
Concert with che Sesame Street Muppets. Here Fontana joins again
with the Choirin “He Lives in You,’ a hit song from the stage version
of The Lion King.

From Singing?”
Renée Fleming is acclaimed around the world as one of the finest
and most versatile singers of our time, a genuine superstar, With
broad-ranging musical interests, a delightful sense of humor, and
abundant charm, she becomes an instant audience favorite wherever
she performs. In 2005, Fleming joined with the Choir for its annual
(Christmas concert, and with this new collaboration on “How Can I
Keep from Singing?” continues her association with the Choir as

Brian Stokes Mitchell was dubbed Broadway's “Last Leading Man”
by the New York Times for his combination of matinee-idol looks,
rich batitone voice, and breadth of acting experience. A two-time
Tony award winner and 2016 Theater Hall of Fame inductee, Stokes
firse appeared with the Choir in 2008, then returned a few months
later to sing in the Choi's Christmas concert where he presented
“Through Heaven's Eyes? the hie song he recorded for the
soundtrack of the animated feature The Prince of Egypt. OF this
ongoing relationship, Stokes beamed, “It’s a match made in heav
n...You can't work with better people.”

“Vitae Lux”
Norwegian singer Sissel Kyrkjebo sang the Olympic Hymn at the
1994 Winter Olympic Games in Lillehammer, Norway, and was
later heard on the soundtrack to the 1997 smash hit movie Titanic
Sissel first collaborated with the Mormon Tabernacle Choi in 2005,
and retumed the following year as featured soloist at the Choir’s
annual Christmas concert where she performed “Vitae lux” by
Norwegian songwriter Frode Alnas. “Iefelt like I was coming home,
it was wonderful” she remarked

‘An iconic presence at leading opcra houses globally, Sir Bryn Terfel
also frequently performs popular fare. Since his initial visie to Sale
Lake City in 2003, Terfel has worked with the Choir on numerous
concert and recording projects. On his 2013 visit, he recorded the
song “Homeward Bound? the tele track from a collaborative album
with the Choir and the Orchestra at Temple Square. At one of the
recording sessions, Terfel arrived wearing a tshire with “I love
Mack” printed on one side, and “Mormon Tabernacle Choir
Rocks!” on the other.

From Beauty and the Beast
Since starring in Mame in 1966, the legendary actress Angela
Lansbury has lent her talents to many other stage and film musicals.
“These include the 1991 Disney adaptation of Beauty and the Beast,
where she sang the title song thae went on to win Oscar, Golden
Globe, and Grammy awards. Lansbury reprised this beloved sor
the Choir's 2001 Christmas concert. Reflecting later on her
experience with the ir, she declared, “I didn’t realize that I was
going to be hit by this extraordinary spirit. haven't experienced this
before. It’s quite unique, people doing something for the love of it.”
THE KING'S SINGERS,
“Tm Runnin’ On”
For neatly fifty years, The King’s Singers have remained a pioneering
and preeminent a cappella ensemble. ‘They have also become one of
the Choir's favorite and most frequent guest artists, going back to
theie first performance with the Choir in 1998. They returned for
the 2002 Cultural Olympiad, and were the featured guests with the
Choir at its 2007 Christmas Concert. ‘The King's Singers performed
‘again at the Choir’s 2016 Pioneer Day concert, and have appeared as
special guests five times on the Choir’s weekly Music and the Spoken
Word broadcast. No longer merely friends, The King's Singers are a
cherished part of the Choir family.

for a church meeting, That was the begin-
ning of what has become the Mormon
Tabernacle Choir. Today, composed of 360
volunteer voices, the Choir continues ro

Often performing with the Orchestra at
‘Temple Square, a 150-piece, all-volunteer
symphony orchestra organized in 1999, the
Choir heard by millions worldwide
through radio, TY, satellite and Internet
broadcasts, tours, and recordings.
Since its first tour to Chicago in 1893, the
Choir has toured extensively across the
United States and abroad. It has performed
throughout Europe and in music capitals
from Israel and Russia to Japan and Austra-
lia. Its travels have also included perfor-
mances at six inaugurations of US. presi
dents. The Choir has performed at North
America’s most prestigious outdoor music
festivals, including Interlochen, Ravinia,
Chautauqua, Wolf Trap, and Tanglewood
with che Boston Symphony Orchestra, and
has also appeared with the Boston Pops and
Cincinnati Pops.
More than 200 recordings have showcased
the Choir from the carly days of long-play-
ing records to today’s CDs, DVDs, and
digieal downloads. The group’ 1959 release
of “Batele Hymn of the Republic,’ recorded
with Eugene Ormandy and the Philadel-
phia Orchestra, won a Grammy award and
it has received three other Grammy nomi-
nations. The Choir has also cared five gold
and two platinum records. The Choir has
its own recording label—Mormon Taber
nacle Choir—and 12 of the Choi's releases
have reached the top of Billboard” Maga-
zine’ classical charts, The Choir was award-
ed the National Medal of Ares by President
George W. Bush in 2003.
