sing Lucy Locket on solfege to see if
students are singing and pointing to the
correct notes
2. I will scan the circle as we move for
the 7 Jumps activity to see which
students follow me and change actions
when the music changes

- penny
- envelopes with Lucy Locket puzzle
- drums, rhythm sticks, finger symbols
- Mud Puddle storybook

Lesson Procedures: Time Differentiation (Adaptations

for Diverse Learners, ELL,
Gifted)
1. Anticipatory song of the month 2 min
- first graders have just finished learning the whole
song
- we will sing through the whole song together

2. Introduction Lucy Locket 7 min - I will guide students towards

- solfege pattern warm up reading from the board by
- play game with penny reminding them about the
- sing solfege of the song from the board different notes high and low

3. Guided Practice reading from the staff 7 min

- students will work in partners to put cards with - I will walk around the room
the Lucy Locket note patterns in the correct order as students work together and
- students will point to the notes and sing the offer hints if a group is stuck

4. Review John had 8 min

- review body percussion
- add instruments for each of the different body - before the students start
percussion parts using the instruments, I will
- rotate around the room so students take turns on review the safe and respectful
the instruments way to play each one

- practice walking in a circle
- listen to music and watch teacher for movement
cues

- time permitting, sing through the song or read the

- I will first use nonverbal cues to address individual student misbehavior, then I will say
something quietly to the student
- If the whole class begins talking or being disruptive, I will use a redirect and say something
like freeze, eyes on me or voices off
- I will clearly state the rules of our movement activity and explain that students will receive
one warning if they are not being safe, and then they will need to sit to the side
