This term we are going to cover the following topics:

English Our topic this term is Hot vs Cold. We will be concentrating on developing our
speaking and listening skills through role play, questioning, looking at
bibliographies, fantasy stories, instructional and persuasive writing as well as
looking at explorers in history. We will also be having a main focus on handwriting
and the correct use of capital letters and full stops. SPAG and spellings will be
taught with a focus on the childrens current phonic phase to allow for the transfer
of their knowledge into their writing.
Mathematics We will be primarily using the Collins Busy Ants Maths programme. This term we
will be looking at number, place value, addition, subtraction, multiplication,
division, fractions, money, time, pictograms, tally charts and measurement.
Science Our Science sessions this term will be covering the topic seasonal change, polar
adventures and little masterchefs. We will be exploring the different changes in
seasons, weather, growth and survival.
Music Music sessions will be based on the Charanga scheme exploring rhythm, rhymes
and song.
ICT Mrs Holliday will be teaching computing focussing on we are treasure hunters and
we are TV chefs.
PE Our P.E. Sessions this term will be based on games and sports, dance and
athletics.
RE RE sessions will cover books and stories and signs and symbols.
Art This term we will be developing a range of arts skills linked to our topic Hot vs
Cold.
Geography Our geography will be linked to our topic Hot vs Cold.
Design This term we will be developing a range of D&T Skills linked to our topic Hot vs
Technology Cold.
History This term we will be looking at famous explorers in history.
PSHE This term we will be looking at emotional health and well-being.

We value the support of all parents and guardians. If you feel you can help in any way with the work we are
covering this term, please contact myself.

Homework will be set where possible. Children will have at least two days to complete most work and I
recommend they spend no longer than thirty minutes working on the task. After this time encourage your child
to stop. If there are any problems or difficulties please contact the school. Thank you.

Once again this term children are being encouraged, where possible, to give themselves 15 minutes a day to
read their book, recording in their diaries or journals what time they started and finished, and how much they
managed to read. Any assistance and encouragement would be appreciated.
