MULTI-MEDIA AUTHORING TEMPLATE

Name: Cassie Smith

PART A: Students can create a poem about an organism and its environment. Students then will create their own beat using the
website, www.incredibox.com. They will then record themselves reciting their poem while their beat is playing in the
background.

Content Area/Grade/Standards/Topics Addressed:
communicate information to examine the interdependence of organisms with one
another and their environments.

Brief Description of Learning Experience: As you address the standards, what will students and
teachers do? How will the project be introduced? How long will it take to complete? What audience will
use/care about the multimedia projects students are creating? How broad is this audience? How will
student work be assessed and by whom? Who will provide feedback to students about their work?
(Overview should be a minimum of 2 paragraphs) The teacher will have already completed a poem with audio to
show the class. The teacher will show the creation that they made to the students so they know what they will be doing. The
teacher will give the student a rubric with certain requirements so that they are not lost. The assignment will be for the students to
write their own poem about an organism and their environment. They will then recite their poem and add music in the
background. The poem I did was about plants written by Risa Jordan.

Student Engagement/Higher-Order Thinking: What LoTi level would this lesson be and Why?
I think this would be a level 3 because students are applying their knowledge and creating their own
poem and beat.

Importance of technology: Why is using a multimedia authoring tools critical to the project? Could
the project be completed without this technology? What would be lost without using it? What other
types of technology, if any, are going to be used in the learning experience? This particular project could not
be completed without the use of technology. Audacity, or another program similar to this, is needed for recording and having
music in the background. This project is great for students to use their creative side and have some fun while also learning.
Inspiration (optional): If you used existing multimedia projects as a model for your project (whether
in part or whole), include the URL(s) so we can visit. Explain what concepts you borrowed from
others.
I used a poem that someone else wrote which can be found here: https://s-media-cache-

The music clip can be found here and is titled Elevation: https://unbelievablebeats.com/free-beats-free-downloads
Internet Safety and Student Privacy: Briefly discuss some possible issues surrounding internet
safety and student privacy that could arise while implementing this learning experience and explain
how youd minimize risks to students/yourself, alleviate any fears by parents/administrators, and
follow school districts Internet Safety/Use Policy.
Some issues would be students taking another persons music without properly citing the creator.
Another thing would be to make sure the parents are okay with their students poems and voices to go
on the internet. I would also make sure my students are okay with me putting their work online.
