Dear Mr. Paul Lavine:

It is with great interest that I apply for the Nurse Residency Program at the University of
Colorado Hospital. Joining the July cohort allows me to embark on this journey sooner through
which I will gain the curriculum and mentoring support to develop the judgement, skill, and
knowledge necessary to excel independently in the nursing role. I am graduating with a
Bachelors of Science in Nursing in May 2017 from The University of Arizona.

The Medical-Surgical ICU (MICU) and Surgical/Trauma ICU (STICU) are units which suit me
best due to my proficiency with ventilator management, vasoactive medications, hemodynamic
monitoring, continuous renal replacement therapy, specimen collection, and resuscitation.
During my senior preceptorship in a MICU, I demonstrated excellence in assessment,
documentation, critical thinking, communication, patient-centered teaching, holistic nursing
interventions, and psychomotor skills to manage nursing care that promotes health.
Additionally, Im a great professional fit for these units due to my passion for the nursing
profession, which is evident in my roles as a patient advocate, team player, and eager learner.
The standards of honesty, integrity, and accountability are values that I consistently practice. My
experience in critical care has also established the necessary critical thinking and time
management skills crucial to these work environments.

UCHealths passion for discovery and commitment to patient and family-centered care is a
mission that I value dearly. Qualities such as compassion, diversity, and innovation among all
health care professionals attract me to UCHealth. I am eager to mirror these same values in the
intensive care unit (ICU).

The Nurse Residency Program at the University of Colorado Hospital stands out as a perfect fit
