Technical Specifications of Different Types of L T

Distribution Boxes
The L T Distribution Boxes shall be used to connect outgoing cables from
Distribution Transformers.A set of cables shall emanate from these L T Distribution
Boxes & will be used to connect other types of L T Distribution Boxes to supply
electricity to consumers.

1. General Constructional Details (L T Distribution Boxes ,Type A,B &D)

L T Distribution Boxes shall be Outdoor type double door openable in front &
back, (with double lock arrangement in front & back) with a rupturing capacity of 35 KA
(ICS=ICU) at 415V or as called for individual items (CPRI Approved manufacturer),
openable in front and back suitable for 3 plase, 4 wire, 50Hz AC supply and an ambient
temperature of 45 deg. C. The Cubicle should be weather proof, dust proof, vermin
Proof and enclosure protection shall be IP-55 as per IS 2147-1962 and IS: 8623. The
panels/switches boards shall be fabricated out of 14-SWG CRCA sheet steel and
provided with 16 SWG hinged doors including suitable foundation.

(a).The shall be suitable for 3 phase ,4 wire,415 V,50 Hz supply

(b). Proper Gaskets shall be provided inside the doors & covers.

(c ).The Panel shall be powder coated after pretreatment with seven tank
process.

(d).The Panel shall be powder coated with dust/dark grey shade on outer
body/doors & with Siemens grey on inside doors.

(e).Bus bar shall be electrolytic grade aluminium & supported on nonhygroscopic

,noncarbonising,corrosion resistant,epoxy/SMC /DMC type
insulators/supports.

(f). The current density of aluminium busbar shall be 1 amp/sqmm(max)

(g). The earth bus shall be provided throughout the panel length.

(h). All Cable entries shall be from bottom as per site requirement.

(i). Control Wiring shall be carried out with PVC insulated copper flexible wire &
following colour standard

AC Voltage Circuit-1.5 sqmm red,yellow,blue & black

Current circuit-2.5 sqmm red,yellow,blue & black
Control Circuit-
 o Phase-1.5 sqmm Red
o Neutral-1.5 sqmm Black

Main LT Panel at LT Substation , with 1000 KVA capacity transformer- (Type A-

1) with 2 nos chemical earthing (80 mm dia,3 M long) of the LT Disribution
Box, with provision of connecting double cable for alternate supply at Bus-
bar.
Incomer (with provision to connect LT cable,1x1000 sqmm) - 1 Set of 1600
Amp. Four Pole MF (manually fixed) ACB with inbuilt MPR release having
overload,earthfault protection &with on/off indicating lights .

transformer- (Type A-2) with 2 nos chemical earthing (80 mm dia,3 M long) of
the LT Disribution Box, with provision of connecting double cable for alternate
supply at Bus-bar.
Incomer (with provision to connect LT cable,1x1000 sqmm) - 1 Set of 1250
Amp. Four Pole MF (manually fixed) ACB with inbuilt MPR release having

400 A, with provision of connecting double cable for alternate supply at Bus-
bar.
Incomer- 1 Set of 400 Amp. Four Pole MCCB with overload, (adjustable O/C
setting 40 to 100%), earthfault protection ,on/off indicating lights with
provision to connect LT cable at incomer of 1X400 sqmm size)

10. Technical specification of LT Exposure Busbar Box ,type D-1
 Outdoor type double door (with double lock arrangement in front & back)

11. Technical specification of LT Exposure Busbar Box ,type D-2
Outdoor type double door LT Disribution Boxes (with double lock arrangement in
front & back)with openable in front and back, suitable for 3 plase, 4 wire, 50Hz
AC supply and an ambient temperature of 45 deg. C. The Cubicle should be
weather proof, dust proof, vermin Proof and enclosure
protection shall be IP-55 as per IS 2147-1962 and IS: 8623. The panels/switches
boards shall be fabricated out of 14-SWG CRCA sheet steel and provided with 16
SWG hinged doors including suitable foundation with 1 nos chemical earthing
(50 mm dia,3 M long) of the LT Exposure Busbar Box with Al Bus Bar of 200
A, min size of Box 800x500x300mm.

12. Technical specification of L T Distribution box ,type C-1

Lockable distribution boxes (including suitable arrangement for fixing on wall/pole/as per
site condition), of size min-450X400x200mm with bus bar 100 Amp (al busbar 250
sqmm size). TPN to feed upto 10 houses with provision to connect LT cable at busbar &
earthing of the LT Disribution Box through GI Strip,25mmx3mm, MS Earthing
rod(2540mmx20mm)

Technical specification of L T Distribution box ,type C-2

Lockable distribution boxes (including suitable arrangement for fixing on

wall/pole/as per site condition), of size min-450X400x200mm with bus bar 70 Amp (Al
busbar 150 sqmm size). TPN to feed upto 10 houses with provision to connect LT
cable at busbar & earthing of the LT Disribution Box through GI Strip,25mmx3mm,
MS Earthing

The L.T. Distribution Box Type C1 & C2 shall be used for giving connections to the
consumers. The L.T. Distribution Box should have anti-corrosive, dust proof, rust proof,
shock proof, vermin proof, U.V. stabilized and flame retardant property. Base door or
other joint should not bend, soften on heating and it should be of tamper proof
construction. The material of box should withstand temperature rise, hot spot
temperature and occasional arcing of bus bar system.

The Box/Kiosk shall be made out of thermosetting plastic i.e. Glass Fiber Reinforced Polyester
Sheet Moulding Compound (SMC) as per IS: 13410-1992

The box should have sealing as well as pad locking arrangement. M.S. Flat with 12 mm
dia hole should be provided for pole mounting.

Each Bus bar shall be provided with facility of cable termination as under:

a)Incoming : 1 No lead per phase, thus 4 polymeric gland of 25 mm dia at bottom.

b)Outgoing : Twelve leads per phase, thus 12 nos., 10 mm dia holes with rubber
grommets i.e. 6 holes on each Side wall with rubber covers.

To facilitate easy working on termination on bus bar, the arrangement for termination of
each lead should be have 6 mm dia holes duly fitted with M 620 screw, 1 custom designed
Aluminum palm washer, 1 washer, 1 spring washer and 1 fly nut as shown in drawing.

In order to restrict entry of tool from unused (cable entry) holes, partition plate should be
provided between wall of the box and bus bar system. The service wire/cables will be taken
from entry hole, suitably bent and taken to bus bar and finally the wire/cable shall be
terminated and lightened using fly nut.
