Informative Outline
Specific goal: My audience will learn the statistics about getting married at a young age and the
effects/benefits of it as well.
Ethos
Primary: I was married at a young age and have experienced it first hand
Secondary: I will cite 3 references out loud in my speech.
Logos: I will state the statistics of divorce rates when married young vs. older
Audience Assessment: My audience may already know about this topic because some of them
have gotten married at a young age as well.
Intro
I. Hook: An unknown author said something that has always resonated with me. No
one is too young for love because love doesnt come from the mind, which knows
your age, but from your heart, which knows no age.
II. Thesis: Many people believe that when a couple gets married at a young age, they
arent mature enough and that it wont last. Through finding statistics, others
experiences, and my own personal experience, I have come to know that no matter
the age, any marriage has the potential of being successful.
Transition: Now that we have gone over what were going to be learning today, lets look at
some statistics.
Body
III. When getting married young, someone might be curious as to what the statistics of

B.
Transition: These statistics show that divorce rates go up while youre young and then down and
then back up again the older you get. While this might seem like young marriage isnt the best
idea, and has a great chance of ending in divorce, this may not be the case for everybody.
IV: There are few stories that I have found, sharing what they have experienced through getting
married at a young age
Transition: Now that we have learned about others experiences, let me share with you my own
personal experience.
V.I was married at 19 and have experienced young marriage at its finest
A. It was unexpected
Transition: Getting Married young wasnt what I was seeking after, but I wouldnt change it for
the world.
Conclusion
VI. Through researching stats, reading about others experiences and going through this myself, I
have come to find that no matter what people may think or say, I know that any marriage has the
potential to be successful no matter the age.

VII. I believe that although young-aged marriage is something that is very shamed, and is felt to
end in divorce, I believe that love doesnt know age, or race, or qualities in general. Any
marriage can be successful no matter if it is 50 years old or 20 years young. Love just loves who
it wants to love and that is a very beautiful thing.
