WEBSITE AND CLASSROOM BLOG CREATION TOOLS

Name: Adrianne Brown

Directions: Using the template below, describe how students could use a blog, wiki, or other website-
creation tool to learn required learning standards in your content area: For an A grade provide an idea that
reaches a Level of Technology Implementation of 4 or above. Remember higher levels (4-6) require that
students assume adult/professional roles; engage in higher-order thinking; and use technology
create/publish original content for their classmates and/or others beyond their school/classroom. The
learning activities and products should be engaging and meaningful to the students and to others who will
view/use/benefit from students work. Review your handouts on Engaged Learning, Authenticity, and LoTi.

Content Area/Grade/Standards/Topics Addressed: MGSEK.G.2 Correctly name shapes regardless of
their orientations or overall size. This standard addresses students identification of shapes based on
known examples. Students at this level do not yet recognize triangles that are turned upside down as
triangles, since they dont look like triangles. Students need ample experiences looking at and
manipulating shapes with various typical and atypical orientations. Through these experiences,
students will begin to move beyond what a shape looks like to identifying particular geometric
attributes that define a shape.
Brief Description of Learning Experience:
In this activity students will correctly name shapes regardless of their orientation or overall size. I will
post the instruction for the activity on the classroom blog site. Students will go through their home looking
for shapes take pictures and be prepared to share their findings in class the following day. Students will
create a flipbook composed of the different shapes around their house.
This activity will take approximately two days to complete. Teacher will laminate and donate the shape
flipbook created by the students to the local Pre-K classroom.

Student Engagement/Level of Technology Implementation (LoTi):

This will be a LoTi 4 student will use technology to take pictures of the shapes around their home and they
will create a product that they will share with an audience outside of the classroom.

Importance of technology: Website tool is important for this project because the website is the source
where students will receive the instructions for the assignment. This activity could not be completed
without technology because students are required to take a photo of the shapes around their house.
