Online Projects, Collaboration Sites, and Publishing Opportunities

Title of Online Project/Collaboration Site/Publishing Opportunity: KidPub URL of Online Project/Collaboration Site/Publishing Opportunity: https://www.kidpub.com/ Describe how you would use the Online Project/Collaboration Site/Publishing Opportunity in your classroom: I will use the online Publishing Opportunity for students to showcase their fairy tales to people all over the world. This is also a great opportunity for students to see other students work. What technologies would be required to implement this proposed learning activity in a classroom? Students will use Microsoft Word to type their final work and students will use google chrome on the laptop or desktops and upload their work onto KidPub. Describe how the following features are addressed in this learning experience (note: all of them may not be addressed in the project, but most should be if you are reaching a high LoTi Level.): a. Collaboration with peers, near-peers, mentors outside their classroom and often beyond their school: Students will collaborate with peers during the editing process students will work together to peer edit each others fairytale. b. Student-centered learning and knowledge creation (collecting original data and or producing original products as a result of engaging in the project): Student will use data from their favorite original fairytale and create their own. c. Higher-order thinking: d. Students publishing their original work to others who will use/care about their product: Students publishing their work will provide students with great reading for enjoyment.

This learning activity is best described as a Loti Level 5. The students get to use technology to publish their own work on the KidPub website. How could you implement this proposed learning experience and still comply with your districts Internet Safety and Student Privacy policies? To adhere to internet safety procedure all work must be approved by the teacher before being uploaded to KidPub. I will also conduct an internet safety meeting for parent and students prior to this assignment.
