Abstract
The community report proposal is over domestic violence, and the issues within the

community, and how it affects the community, people, and the ways it can be solved. In the last

couple of years, many people were not aware of domestic violence, and how it is taking a toll on

their community. Most people dont know about the different programs and shelters for domestic

violence because there is not enough publicity within the community. If more people are aware

and willing to help in the community, then there wouldnt be as many domestic violence cases

happening in El Paso, or around the world.

What is the issue

Domestic violence has been happening for a long time now. However, many people

werent aware of how bad domestic violence has gotten. In 2014, according to the El Paso times,

there was five domestic violence cases, and was ranked top five among the top five countries in

Texas (Figueroa, 2015). The issues on why domestic violence keeps occurring, and more people

are dying is because the victims of domestic violence are not aware of the help available to them,

in the community. Another issue, is the lack of shelter for these people who are trying to get out.

However, they cant leave because they dont have the finances, or dont have anywhere to go.

There is not a lot of shelters because of funding. The other issue is publicity within in the

community. These people who are in these situations, are not aware of the programs, shelters, or

other useful resources for domestic violence people. The last reason people dont leave is

because they have kids involved, and have nowhere to go. According to El Paso times, from the

deaths that occurred last year, there were about 120 people who had witnessed these deaths,

mostly children (Figueroa, 2015). So, by people not knowing about these issues happening, these

issues continue to get worst because people are not aware of whats happening in the community.

How does domestic violence affect the community

This affects the community because when people are being abused, and are not aware of

the resources available in the community. If people knew about the programs and help there was

for domestic violence, then there wouldnt be as many cases or murders involved with domestic

violence. By the community spreading information to help those people in these situations, they

will know where and who to go to, without worrying about how they are going to survive. From

the El Paso time news, Lorena Figueroa says, If advice was all it took for a person to get out of

a violent relationship, then five El Paso women might still be alive today (Figueroa, 2015). So,

if the community would give more input on domestic violence, it could save people from a

violent relationship and there lives. According to the El Paso times newspaper, the community

would rather not have to deal with domestic violence, but until the community reach not having

violence, then they would rather continue raising domestic violence awareness (Figueroa, 2015).

How can domestic violence be solved

This can be solved, by the community making their resources more available, so people

will know where to go if they need help. The other solution is the community stop spending

money on useless projects thats not benefiting the people, and provide that money towards the

shelters, and other organization for domestic violence. For an example, the community can have

a walk for domestic violence, to raise awareness, money, and have different tables of information

for shelters and other programs of help (Hundt, 2016). Another solution is making health care a

public health for domestic violence. Were they can help people, and give information for

shelters, and other resources to help those people (Lewin, 1997). The last solutions to lower

domestic violence is if they know the signs, and when to get out. Ouisa Davis, said the first signs

of domestic violence is jealousy, a lot of arguing, accusations, threats, and pushing and grabbing

(Davis, 2016). If more people are more aware and will help people, there would be less violence

going on.

Conclusions

Furthermore, domestic violence today is not being taking serious, and made aware of

today society. There are more people being hurt or abused every day because they are not aware

of the resources available. Some people stay in the situation they are in because there are not

enough shelters, children involved, or they dont have the finances to be by themselves. This is

affecting the community because there is no publicity within the community. If more people

would be aware of this situation occurring, then there would be less abuse and murders

happening. There should be more providers and markets trying to raise money for shelters, so

people can have a place to go. People should be more involved in situations because there are

lots of people who are dying or being hurt.
