DEPARTURE CHECKLIST

Before departing, please ensure that all items on the checklist below have been completed.
Extra charges may apply if not.

Turn off all heaters and air conditioners

Turn off all appliances including stove tops and lights (POWER TO REMAIN ON)
Ensure dishes are cleaned and put away in an orderly manner
Clean BBQ & turn gas bottle off
Empty & clean fridge & pantry of all food stuffs (excluding complimentary condiments &
sauces) Power to remain on.
Place rubbish in outside bins provided (removal of excess rubbish will be charged to guest)
Ensure furniture is in original position
Complete a general tidy up ie: sweep floors, wipe down surfaces
Lock all windows and doors & return keys to office
Remove all USB, game consoles and chargers

GUEST SERVICES

This property is not a serviced property however if your property provides linen you will have a
small supply of soap, toilet paper, laundry powder, dishwashing liquid, and dishwasher tablet if
applicable. A courtesy amount of coffee and tea will also be provided for your arrival.
Properties that do not supply linen do not provide these items.

All guests are required to provide their own consumables dependent upon the length of stay, as
noted within the conditions tab on our website.

If you require a linen change and/or a mid-stay clean please contact our office to arrange. Prices
are available on request.

WHAT HAPPENS IF ...............................

THE POWER GOES OUT?

If the power goes out at the property it could be because an appliance you are using has caused
the safety switch to turn off. Check the switch board (for the location of the switch board refer, to
the switch board section within this compendium) to make sure all switches are on. If the safety
switch is off, flick it on. You will need to turn the appliance off (and unplug) that caused the power
outage in order for the power to stay on. Report the faulty appliance to the office.

The reason for the power outage could also be a blackout. In this instance unfortunately the only
thing to do, is wait for the authorities to fix the problem. Torch in cupboard above fridge

WE HAVE NO HOT WATER?

ELECTRIC UNITS
If you havent had hot water at all since you arrived, check the switch board (for the location of the
switch board refer, to the switch board section within this compendium) to make sure it is turned
on.
If you have had hot water you may have just run out. Most electric hot water services wont begin
to heat up until 11pm so you may have to wait until the following day. Some services have a
day/night or peak/off peak switch in the switch board, if there is one then switch it to peak or day
and the water will start heating straight away (it will take a few hours to heat up) Most properties
have a smart metre and if you press and hold the hot water boost button until you have heard 2
beeps the hot water service will begin heating. (it will take a few hours to heat up).

GAS UNITS
If the hot water is run on gas (refer to gas bottles at the house section within this compendium)
you may need to change over the gas bottles. Properties have two large gas bottles that will either
have a manual regulator that you can switch between bottles or an automatic regulator that
automatically switches over to the new gas bottle (refer to the gas bottles at the house section of
this compendium). If this property has a manual regulator, you will need to go and switch the
regulator to the new bottle ensuring the new gas bottles tap is open. If this property has an
automatic regulator ensure the new gas bottles tap is open.
Please advise our office if you switch over to or open up a new gas battle so we can replace the
empty one.

WE LOSE THE KEYS / LOCK OURSELVES OUT

If you lock yourself out or lose the property keys please contact our office. Please note, if you lose
the keys, the cost for having them replaced will be charged to your credit card. If it is after hours
you will also be charged a call out fee of $50, plus any fees incurred by a third party such as a
Lock Smith.

The owner of Ocean View Treetops Retreat put in a lot of love and care into making this beach
house a place you can get away to relax, recharge and make great memories with your family and
friends. It is truly a piece of paradise by the sea.
The following section describes the house instructions and tips that will help you to make your stay
at the property as enjoyable, comfortable and relaxing as possible.

ATTRACTIONS / ACTIVITIES

Skenes Creek is located in The Otways where you can find some of Australia's best rainforest
scenery in the Otway Ranges amongst tall trees, ancient plant life and lush ferns. Walk among
giant tree ferns at Maits Rest, see the glow worms at Melba Gully, or experience the full beauty of
this rainforest paradise on the Otway Fly Tree Top Walk.
The following local attractions are highly recommended: Marriners Lookout, Cape Otway
Lighthouse, The Telegraph Station and WWII Radar Station, Maits Rest Rainforest Trail, Erskine
Falls and Otway Fly Treetop Walk. Of course, you should not miss the Twelve Apostles along the
Great Ocean Road.

BBQ

Light BBQ according to directions on dial panel. Please take the empty bottle to the service station
or Apollo Bay Gas and Electrical in Pascoe Street. If it is after hours, you can take it to the Caltex

petrol station swap and go which is open until 10pm. You will need to pay for the swap/refill and
please bring your receipt in to our office for re-imbursement. Please clean BBQ and replace cover
after use. BBQs left dirty will attract a minimum $50 fee.
Our BBQ utensils are located in the bottom section of the kitchen pantry. Aluminium drip tray is
provided for your convenience.

FANS

Pedestal fan is provided in each bedroom for cooling down on a warm night.

DRYER

Dryer is located in the laundry room. The lint filter is located on the door of the dryer behind the
directional outlet grill. To remove the outlet grill, grasp the hub in the centre of the grill and pull.
Wipe the filter clean with your hand. Use Light-Medium Setting for delicate fabrics.

DISHWASHER

Check that spinning arms and rotating devices spin freely and that there is nothing obstructing
tubes or sprayers before each run. Fill the soap container on the dishwasher door with powdered
dishwasher detergent provided. Fill to the designated line.
Turn the knob to Setting 4. Ensure that the door is closed properly (you need to push the door in
firmly). Once the power button is pressed and the door is closely firmly, the dishwasher will start.
Please ensure dishwasher is emptied and filter is cleaned of food waste after use.

DVD

A DVD player is provided for your enjoyment. You can hire the latest DVDs from DVD rental
machine located outside the Foodworks Supermarket and Liquor Store located at 4, Hardy Street,
Apollo Bay. If remote batteries need replacing, please let our office know the size and number
required.

ELECTRIC HEATING

Electrical Heater is provided in each bedroom. You can find the heater inside the wardrobe.

 FIRE WOOD HEATER

A wood burning heater bathes your room with a rich, soothing warmth that no other energy source
can equal. The fire's radiance gives a welcome embrace as you come in from the cold. With its all-
natural ingredients, a real wood fire is a hearty tonic for winter chill.
Fire woods, kindling and firelighter and matches are provided in the baskets next to the heater.
How to build a wood fire?
Wood burns most efficiently when placed in a very hot fire. These procedures are designed to
bring your firebox to the right temperature as quickly as possible.
Turn ON the heater fan (fan switch is located on the right hand side of the heater)
Place a large amount of kindling in a criss-cross pattern over one of two blocks of firelighter. Make
sure plenty of air can get into the stack and around each piece of kindling.
Add a few small pieces of wood on top. The firebox should be about half full of fuel.
Ignite the firelighter. Leave the door slightly ajar for the first few minutes to allow extra air to hasten
the build-up of flame.
Do not leave the heater unattended while the door is ajar. Continue to add small pieces of wood
until a bed of hot glowing coals is established.
Place two or three thoroughly dry logs (about 80-100mm diameter) on the well-established fire.
* if you are running out of firewood, you can buy more at the Foodworks supermarket at 4, Hardy
Street, Apollo Bay or Caltex petrol station in Apollo Bay.

GAMES

We have a selection of board games, chess board and playing cards that you can use, free of
charge, during your stay at Ocean View Treetops Retreat.

GLOBES

Please let our office know if globes need replacing.

GAS BOTTLES AT THE PROPERTY

 Apollo Bay is a bottled gas community. If a house gas bottle runs out at the property please advise
the office ASAP on 52372600. All properties using gas should have 2 gas bottles, the gas bottle
not in use will be closed and will require opening. Locate the gas bottles and turn the tap on the
top to open.
It is important that we are notified when a gas bottle runs out otherwise we are unable to ensure
the properties second gas bottle will be full.
If both gas bottles are empty, please contact our office immediately on 03-52372600.

HAIRDRYER

Located in the bottom drawer of ensuite vanity.

IRON/IRONING BOARD

Iron and ironing board are located in cupboard next to the study corner

KEY

Please return keys to office upon checkout

MATCHES

Matches are provided in the pantry (below the microwave). For lighting the wood heater, matches
are provided in the baskets next to the heater.

MICROWAVE

Microwave is located in the pantry next to the cooktop.

Please ensure that the switch which labelled Cooktop Oven on the left hand side of the cooktop
is switched ON

PLASTIC BAGS

Apollo Bay is a plastic bag free town and you will find that not all businesses will provide plastic
bags. We have stored some reusable bags for your use in the kitchen drawer. Please ensure they
are returned for future guests to use.

REFRIGERATOR

Please empty & clean refrigerator on departure. Please keep fridge on at all times.

RUBBISH

Collection Day is every Monday.

Please place rubbish bins (household waste & recycle) on the kerb facing the road the night
before collection day. If you vacate before that day, please put bins out when you leave.

Do not place household waste in recycle bin or green waste bin charges will apply.

STOVE

Please ensure oven and cooktop are cleaned and BBQ trays are cleaned (Replace foil tray if
soiled)

SWITCHBOARD

Located on right side of the main entrance to the house

TORCH

Located in wine storage rack above the fridge

TV

If remote batteries need replacing, please let our office know the size and number required.

VACUUM CLEANER/BROOMS/DUSTER

Broom is stored next the fridge and vacuum cleaner can be found in the cupboard at the bottom of
the stair.

WATER RESTRICTIONS

Apollo Bay regularly has water restrictions in place. Please observe these restrictions and
consider your water usage at this property.

WASHING MACHINE

Complimentary washing powder and liquid detergent can be found in the cupboard inside the
laundry room.
