HEURISTIC: RECOGNITION RATHER THAN

RECALL

SEVERITY: 0

NOTES
Allows the user to easily choose which profile they belong to.
HEURISTIC: AESTHETIC AND MINIMALIST
DESIGN

SEVERITY: 0

NOTES
Again, there's just two options which contribute to a lot of minimalism:
choose a profile or manage profiles.

HEURISTIC: FLEXIBILITY AND EFFICIENCY OF

USE

SEVERITY: 1
NOTES
If you hover over a title, you can see that the title image gets bigger but
it's slow to respond and it is unclear what happens if you click on it.

RECOMMENDATION
Improve UI so it's easier for a user to tell what will happen after clicking
the title.

HEURISTIC: CONSISTENCY AND STANDARDS

SEVERITY: 2
NOTES
When you hover over "My List", you're able to view more titles that you
saved in your list but for "Popular on Netflix" and "Trending Now", you're
unable to.

RECOMMENDATION
Give the option to see more titles in "Popular on Netflix" and "Trending
Now" to keep consistent standards.

HEURISTIC: VISIBILITY OF SYSTEM STATUS

SEVERITY: 0
NOTES
No immediate response upon hovering title. Takes a few seconds to see
what options I have.

RECOMMENDATION
Increase speed of animations.

HEURISTIC: AESTHETIC AND MINIMALIST

DESIGN

SEVERITY: 1
NOTES
There are many different sub-sections and titles in Netflix. It would be
useful to have icons to differentiate the sections more. There's a lot of text
and title images which could make the user feel overwhelmed.

RECOMMENDATION
Add icons to the titles to differentiate them more. The only differentiated
section right now is the "Netflix Originals" titles.

HEURISTIC: CONSISTENCY AND STANDARDS

SEVERITY: 2
NOTES
For the "add to list" button, there's a tooltip but for the like button, there
is no tooltip present so the user has less context. What if they don't like
the title? They probably won't want to click the like button.

RECOMMENDATION
Add a tooltip to the like button and provide more context to the like
button so it's obvious a user can rate a title negatively or positively.

HEURISTIC: RECOGNITION RATHER THAN

RECALL

SEVERITY: 1
NOTES
Again, there's a lot of text but not a lot of visual context into what these
sections mean.

RECOMMENDATION
Adding icons might user more easily identify what each of these sections
implies.

HEURISTIC: CONSISTENCY AND STANDARDS

SEVERITY: 2
NOTES
The right arrow in Netflix means switching titles so that's why I would
assume would happen but in reality, when I click on that right arrow, I get
shown more information.

RECOMMENDATION
Come up with a new icon to show that more information is being shown.

HEURISTIC: ERROR PREVENTION

SEVERITY: 1
NOTES
It's not obvious to recognize that you need to click the big play button in
order to resume. A user might wrongly assume it would start from the
beginning instead of resuming.

RECOMMENDATION
Make the play button more obvious it will start from resuming position.

HEURISTIC: HELP AND DOCUMENTATION

SEVERITY: 1
NOTES
Help section is not really well noted and is put all the way at the bottom

RECOMMENDATION
Better onboarding process

HEURISTIC: HELP RECOGNIZE & RECOVER

FROM ERRORS

SEVERITY: 0
NOTES
A little hard to spot initially but the option to exit out of this title is
present.

RECOMMENDATION
None
