massacre.html>.

Barbara Crossette from The New York Times writes about the UNs failed promise of
haven to Bosnian Muslims during the Bosnian genocide. Then it dives into how the UN
and the United States are trying to make amends for letting the refugees be slaughtered in
the city of Srenbrenica. The UN condemned those responsible and helped set up a
security council and further protection for those afflicted. This article was written in 1999
so less details and investigation into the Bosnian genocide were revealed. However, it
does further my paper on the US and world powers standing idly by during genocides.

Francis Boyle wrote a petition to the UN and international community to stop the
embargo on Iraq during the Persian Gulf war on behalf of the millions of children in Iraq
that it greatly affected. Boyle writes that George H.W. Bush committed acts of genocide
by subjects the group to conditions of life that are intended to cause the physical
destruction of the group in whole or in part. Boyle states that Bush and the US knows

that the embargo is causing millions of innocent deaths but still imposes it. Francis Boyle
is a trusted source; he is heavily involved in international law and he holds a Doctor of
Law Magna Cum Laude as well as a Ph.D. in Political Science, both from Harvard
University.

Kelemen, Michele. "Global Powers' Commitment To Intervene In Genocides May Be Waning."

NPR. NPR, 29 Dec. 2016. Web. 17 Mar. 2017.

Kelemen writes in this NPR article about how the world powers reluctances to intervene in Syria
and other places effected by genocidal acts. Reasons for the US under Obama to not be heavily
involved in Syria stems from Libya and the turmoil its been since the US overthrew Gaddafi.
With Trump, however he plans to work with Russia to oppose ISIS; even though Russia has
backed the Assad regime, which has gassed its own people and committed genocide. NPR is a
reliable news source and is known to be unbiased in its reporting.

of-genocide>.

The Inter Parliamentary Alliance for Human Rights and Global Peace gives a helpful list
of genocides that have occurred since WWII. The list includes 24 genocides or acts of
genocides. In each genocide, they give a small description of what occurred and how the
international community did nothing or got involved and actual hurt the victims.
