15 Educational Resources for Students

1. Edmodo: This is a classroom site. As a teacher, I can create an

account and add students into my classroom. I can then assign
students reading assignments based on NC Common Core Standards.
Students can practice their reading skills and focus on one specific
standard skill as well.
2. Newsela: This is a site that allows me to assign reading passages and
questions to individual students. I can assign different lexile levels to
different students so that they are getting the differentiated
reading practice that they need.
3. Cool Math: This is a site with many math games. It makes practicing
math engaging and fun for kids.
4. Science Bob: This is a site with science experiments that kids can
do at home. They relate directly to different science standards and
topics that kids have to know (plus they are a lot of fun and
easy).
5. Grammaropolis: This is a great site for students who are still
struggling with their writing. It has different tabs for the parts of
grammar that students can click on. They can learn, practice, take
quizzes, and play games to help learn better grammar.
6. Math Live: This is a site where kids can watch fun and interactive
videos that help kids understand math concepts better (it also has
parent and teacher sheets as well as assessments you can use)
7. E-Learning: This is a site that provides kids with more interactive
videos and games on science, ELA, and math topics. It ranges from
kindergarten through sixth grade.
8. Sweet Search: This is a great search engine tool for kids (and
adults). It only searches through websites that have been labeled as
credible and therefore is more trustworthy than search engines
like Google or Bing. Students wont have to worry as much when
completing their research projects.
9. Vocab Ahead: This site has videos, explanations, and tools to help kids
understand and use new words (it will help them build their
vocabulary).
10. MathRun: Everyone knows that kids struggle with their basic math
facts in elementary school. This is a simple site to help kids practice
their basic math facts so that they are able to complete more
complicated problems that involve the need to know your facts!
11. Academic Skill Builders: This is a great site with more math, ELA, and
Social Studies games that kids will love. They will also enhance their
learning.
12. Loyal Books: Books that students can listen to for free. This would
be a great site for ESL students who understand the language but
cant quite read very well.
13. Magic School Bus: I love this site because kids love The Magic
School Bus. It makes learning about science fun for kids.
14. FunBrain: Another educational game site (this is what kids love to do).
15. iCivics: I love, love, love this site. It is a place for kids to play civics
related games. It immerses them into the role of a president running
for office, a lawyer trying to protect peoples rights in the
Constitution, etc. They learn so much from playing these civic
games.
