Stage 2: Assessment Evidence
Performance Tasks: Key Criteria: Interactive scavenger hunt, guest speakers, PowerPoint, Exit ticket/ Kahoot! matching game, exit ticket/quiz Agenda/Learning Plan I will begin teaching the class by engaging the students in a short informational PowerPoint. This PowerPoint will give an overview of what invasive species are, the types of invasive species, what to do to prevent the spreading of invasive species, and quick facts. After completing the PowerPoint, I will assign the students to begin the scavenger hunt. Before the students arrive, my volunteers and I will hide all 30 pieces of the invasive species. After each student has found a piece, they will be separated into groups based upon what color (red, blue, or green) dot is on the back of their piece. After the groups are organized, they will receive a set of clues, one for each piece. The first group to match their set of clues to all of their pictures will win a prize. After one or two rounds of the matching game, my guest speaker, Chief Jayward Hanna will speak to the students about his experiences with smuggling in animals from the airport. After Chief Hanna speaks, I will have the students complete a Kahoot! activity as an exit ticket. The top student will also receive a prize. If time is left over, the students will take a small trip outside to identify some invasive species at their own school.
