At UWA you can enrol to study
a Doctor of Philosophy, Masters
of Philosophy, Professional
Doctorate or a range of other
research degrees at any time.
Admission Requirements
You must have completed, or expect to
complete, a degree with a substantial
research component.
You must also fulfil all UWA academic
entry requirements including English
language profiency.
Research Preliminary Degrees and
English bridging courses are available
at UWA for students who do need meet
our entry requirements
To start a research degree at UWA follow
these four simple steps:
1. Choose a Supervisor
Contact a supervisor in the UWA
school in which you intend to study. To
find a supervisor you can explore our
Research Publications and Expertise.
The profiles of our Research Leaders
may also help you select a potential
supervisor. Or contact a Graduate
Research Coordinator for the school in
which you intend to study.
Prepare a brief (maximum 250 words)
outline of the proposed area of study to
discuss with your prospective supervisor.
2. Lodge an Application
Download and complete an application
form and provide the necessary
supporting documentation, such as
your academic transcript.
Submit your application to UWAs
International Centre Admissions who
will provide advice and guidance.
3. Obtain Approval
Your application will be sent to your
chosen school for consideration. Your
research preparation, your proposed
supervisors and the project will
beconsidered.
4. Enrol
Once your application has been
approved you will receive a detailed
letter with the terms of your enrolment.

You can apply for many scholarships to
undertake research degrees at UWA.
Or you can be sponsored by your own
country to study here.

Australian Government
Funded Scholarships
Australia Awards are prestigious
international scholarships offering
high-achieving students the
opportunity to undertake study. They
include the Endeavour Scholarships.
Sponsorships
Sponsored students receive financial
assistance from a government,
organisation or company (not
private individuals or relatives) to
undertake studies at UWA. Funding
of the scholarship is usually from an
organisation within the students
homecountry.
International Postgraduate
Research Scholarships
The IPRS is for top quality international
students to study in UWA areas of
specialised research strength.

Tuition fees for up to 4 years
Stipend of ~$29000 per annum
Overseas Student Health Cover
UWA China Scholarships
The China Scholarship Council and
UWA offer scholarships to students who
enrol in a Doctor of Philosophy at UWA.
Applicants should be Chinese citizens
and normally residing in China at the
time of application, and enrolled or
registered in a Chinese University.
