My main activities thus far with the campaign have been volunteer recruitment and voter

outreach. Volunteer recruitment has been mostly a tool using Facebook graph searching and

finding people with similar interests who may be able to help volunteer. This had originally started

with just youth outreach, but because of the lack of college students in town during the summer I

am also recruiting the elderly because of the large amount of people who come down to this area to

retire. For the volunteer recruitment, we also are offering internships to students. The flyer being

used is attached in the email. But in making the flyer, I used the tools we learned in PR Writing

and Intro to PR, for example, to be sure there arent distracting fonts and I dont use a variety of

fonts to distract what I want people to focus the message on. The graphic from this flyer I also

learned how to do from Desktop Publishing with creating the image and using the backdrop so that

the words do not take away from the images.

Voter outreach again pertains to persuasion. When door knocking and making phone calls, it is

important to persuade people to vote for your candidate in the primary. Especially in a race with 7

other candidates, name recognition and repetition is key and trying to set our candidate apart from

the others in a primary as best we can is important. Because this area is technically the Bible

Belt we have been pushing to receive an endorsement from Mike Huckabee because of his

popularity in our district, we feel that will show how credible our candidate is, even though she is

only 25 years old.

Lastly, the other day I went to a luncheon with Rebekah and met with about 10 businessmen in

the area who have a Friday lunch to discuss politics. She was invited and had me go with to talk

with some of them and answer any questions they may have. I believe it was Intro to PR where we

learned it is important to develop good relationships with reporters and radio people. One of the

gentleman there worked for a radio station and gave me his card and was willing to get us on air or

give us time slots if we needed. Establishing these relationships early on in the primary race is
important because come the last 3 weeks it is vital we get her name out there and heard as much as

possible.
