Composition II

4/13/17

Reflection

In the process, of me writing my rhetorical analysis I have accomplished the

WPA( Writing Program Administrators) Outcomes. The following Writing Program

Administrators Outcomes are Rhetorical Knowledge, Critical Thinking, Reading, and

Composing, Processes, and Knowledge of Conventions. I have practiced the WPA outcomes

when I composed my Academic Argument Paper subject " Getting a degree is expensive but

worth it I thoroughly explained the statements of each paragraph so that my audience

understood my concepts well. While writing this particular paper I have learned how to locate

different ineffective documents from effective documents while comparing and contrasting

different papers while doing our peer reviews in comp II.

In this course, Rhetorical knowledge is the ability to analyze and act on understandings of

audiences, purposes, and contexts while creating and comprehending texts. Focusing on a

purpose is a very important skill in writing. There must be a clear and precise goal of focus that

the author makes in their writing. This way the audience can grasp the main point in the writing

and focus their attention on what exactly the author is trying to prove or evaluate. While writing

the paper

" Getting an education is expensive but worth it I had to focus on purpose. Hopefully, my

audience acknowledged the main points of the article which was even though getting an
education is expensive it is the only way to be successful in todays world. The purpose of this

paper was to inform parents on their child's future education and how much tuition has risen

overtime. College tuition has led many people to question if it Is worth the money and should we

continue to go. My article was effective because it appealed to each of the appeals which were

logos, pathos, and ethos. Also, my evidence was there to back up each of my statements.

I developed critical thinking, reading, and composing by reading a diverse range of texts.

During our peer reviews, I analyzed different texts to inform the writers on how they can

improve on how to write their Academic Argument During our peer reviews, we first evaluated

each article by simply looking at what was required to be done. Things such as is it in MLA

format or APA, what was the format, and what websites or books etc. did they use to back their

claim up. Also, we had an outline of what our Academic argument should contain to help us stay

on track of reviewing the papers. So, we looked at how many sources their were and how many

were internet sources. Peer reviews are awesome if you need more than one brain to make sure

you didnt miss something or if you need another set of eyes to see something you didn't. This

helps with a lot of errors and Is very efficient for any paper. Peer reviewing was the best part of

Academic Argument because you learned things you didnt know. This brought me and my peers

closer together which also makes it easier to take criticism from them. This is how I

accomplished critical thinking, reading, and composing.

Processes for me was a breeze. I developed flexible strategies for reading, drafting,

reviewing, collaborating, revising, rereading, and editing. I incorporated many different

processes in developing my paper. First off, I wrote down what I knew about my subject and

developed a couple questions. After that I found websites and books that answered my questions.

In my composition II class, we had peer reviews to help us structure our paper. Every paper is
different because everyone didnt have the same perspective of how they formatted their paper.

After the peer reviews, it was clear that my final draft was done because with the help of the

people around me my paper was perfect. With a little more critiquing my paper was final and I

established that my paper was very effective. Composing my Academic argument was very easy.

I developed knowledge of conventions by editing for grammar, punctuation, and spelling,

through practice in composing and revising. The outcomes statement outlines a set of

conventions of which students should be knowledgeable. These conventions include the

knowledge of formatting for various kinds of texts, documentation conventions, as well as

knowledge of the surface conventions related to grammatical and mechanical issues. Honestly.

Due to the help of composition II, my drafts were nearly perfect. Since my article was effective

and appealed to each appeal I didnt have to correct anything. My peers criticized me on the

format of my paper but that was all.
