Sleep Deprivation:
Lack of or no sleep over the course of multiple days.
Students end up cheating because they can't get their school work done.
Students have so much school work they can't go to bed until after they
finish it, which may not be for hours.
Substance Abuse:
Overuse or abuse of drugs or alcohol both illegal and legal.
Can lead to mental health problems and a decline in a student's motivation
at school.
Students may lose their friends or grades in school and will no longer want to
come to school every day because they won't see a point to it.
Poverty in Schools:
Children may have a lack of vocabulary
Students may have a lack of school supplies
Students may lack support
Students may have a lack of control.
Students may have trouble with social engagements or relationships.
Students may be looked down upon for how they look but they don't have
the resources at their house to make themselves look as best as possible.
Latchkey Children:
Students may start abusing substances.
Students won't have any time to do their homework if their caring for their
siblings, so their school work will suffer.
Physical Disabilities:
If there is a physical aspect to a class activity than the child may focus more
on accomplishing the physical part than what their learning.
Bullying:
If a student feels unsafe in the school they may not come back.
If a child is distracted by being bullied than they will have trouble focusing on
their school work.
ADD/ADHD:
A students with it may get in trouble and then their learning will be put on
hold.
They can't focus on their school work because of their energy and/or
difficulty focusing.
Dyslexia:
If a student can't read their homework they can have trouble completing it.
