Akiona , Jessica . "Dependent Women and the Male Gaze in Fictional Domestic ..."
This source shares examples on how men and women are perceived in the film industry.
The source discusses how women are most likely seen as a victim of abuse and rely on men to
save them from any hardships women face. By typing in gender inequality in film industry I
was able to find this article to help support my claims. I believe the article is reliable because it
came from University of Hawaii from a student in English 370, although she is only a student
she supported every claim with her own works cited. This article I chose to have as an example
will help guide my audience to believe my argument. This article will help strengthen my essay
by elaborating on how women and men are deceived in movies and media, therefore media has a
greater impact of gender perspectives. I will be able to bring this article in my essay when I state
media has changed societies perspective and now altering gender roles.
The source I found are about different gender roles men and women had and now have.
The article discusses about specific roles given towards gender when they are first born and then
how they are raised and viewed in societies eyes. On google I typed gender roles and did some
research to find this specific article about the different perspectives and job given. The article
Espinoza 2
is from a mental health page created by a psychologist, her credibility and opinions can be
reliable. This article will help define what stereotypes of gender is and will allow my essay to be
stronger. The article gives many examples of society telling what new born babies ae supposed to
look like and how they should act. While I discuss in my paper different gender roles I will be
able to identify specific roles such as women having to be clean and ladylike while men are
RoobixCoob. "A Woman's Role in the 1950s - University of Colorado.". Web. 3 May 2017.
This article shares societies expectancies on how a woman is supposed to treat her
significant other, specifically a male in the 1950s. The obligations and role a woman had to
good wife and not talk back and bring any hardships to her husband. To find this article I had
typed in womens role in 1950s to get a specific search on what I was trying to find exactly. I
believe this article is credible and trustworthy because it came from a studies research in
Colorado. In my paper I will be identifying the difference of gender roles between 1950 and
today. This particular article will allow me to support my claims and help persuade my audience
to agree with me. By using this article, I will first elaborate on how women were viewed and
treated in 1950 compared to now when women have a voice and are allowed to disagree.
Jacobs, Misty. Why are Women Still Dependent on Men? Empower. 28 Oct. 2014. Web. 17
Apr. 2017.
This article discusses how women are still dependent over men and society pushes for
women to lean on men more than themselves. It emphasizes on how women still need men and
will always be dependent towards men and women are not use to being on their own they need a
male figure to reassure them of themselves. I was searching for a counterargument towards my
Espinoza 3
paper and wanted to know if more women thought they needed men. I typed womens
dependency on men and continued to search until I found this article. This article was written by
a graduate with a bachelors degree in psychology and journalism and reassured me her status is
reliable and credible. I will be involving this article on to my essay when I discuss my
counterargument because they are still women who believe they need to rely on men and think
differently. Some women are dependent over their spouse and like to be a housewife and this
article will allow me to view two different perspectives and share them with my readers.
