Lesson 7 reflection:

In this lesson, I taught grammar about there is/are. I chose most activities individually because
innatism theor y believes that some lear ner s pr efer to wor k independently in activities. The
r eason is it r educes str ess and low self-esteem pr oblems when lear ner dont have to shar e
with classmates especially for second language lear ner they find it uncomfor table
(Ligthbown & Spada, 2003). Mor eover , I used BUILT appr oach and it benefited me to
manage my time for each activity, because it made activities sequence for me to teach and
lear ner s to lear n with timing and expanding activities (The Univer sity of Melbour ne, 2005).
In addition, because the lesson was about gr ammar it adopted gr ammar tr anslation
method. In detail, I tr anslate wor ds to mother language to make students under stand,
pr ovided gr ammar r ules and vocabular y while students had to memor ize it (Br own, 1994).
On the other hand, this type is exhausted for teacher because he/she is the center of
infor mation. In my opinion, I was ver y tir ed of teaching gr ammar because the activities
wer e focused on my explanation and infor mation while students had just to memor ize.
