alsoatable.OurDieteticsstudentshostedaFood&Nutritiontablenext
totheirs.Itwaswonderfulforafewreasons,1)partnershipsbetween
studentsandmanycommunitygroupsthattheymayworkwithinthe
future2)moreinteractionwithotherSFStatedepartments3)tohelpfolks
inthecommunitylearnaboutRDsandhealthyfoodanddrinks!

TheSFSUQuadwashometoacoordinatedeffortbetweenmanydifferent
healthfocuseddepartmentssuchastheDieteticsdepartment,Holistic
HealthDepartment,TheStudentHealthCenter,andHealthPromotionand
Wellnessthispastweek.Althoughitwasrainingtherewasagoodturnout
andpeoplewereinterestedinlearningmoreaboutstressreliefand
Dietetics.Ascavengerhuntwasfeaturedencourageparticipantstomingle
betweenallofthestationsandhealthyfood,massages,andinfowere
givenouttomanystudentsandstaff.

OurMindfulEatingtableincludedtipsonhowtotuneintohungercues,
beingconsciousofsnackingandenjoyingtheflavoroffoodwhilepaying
attentiontoportionsizeandturningoffdistractionssuchasTVandyour
phone.Peoplepassingbyparticipatedinanactivityusingthe5sensesto
slowlyenjoyasinglepieceoffoodwithtaste,touch,smell,hearing,and
sight.TwoothergroupsfromDFM451presentedaboutmealprepping
andpreparinghealthysnacksforbrainfuelthroughouttheday!Pictured

Formanyofourstudents,thisistheendoftheroadhereatSFSUs
Dieteticsprogram.Fromhere,graduateswillgoontofollowmanydifferent
pathstotheircareers.Somewillgoontodieteticinternshipsandothers
willcontinuetheireducationinMastersdegreeprograms.Whereveryou
go,beproudofyourachievementshereatSanFranciscoStateUniversity.

Weaskedstudentswherewillyougo?With21responsesthevarietyof
responsesreflectedthediversityoftheSpring2017graduates.

Hereisasamplingofwhatthefutureholds:

TenofourstudentswillbegoingontoDieteticInternshipsincludingNapa
StateHospital(2),UCSF(1),GoldenGateD.I.(1),SFSUD.I.(4),UC
Davis(1),andMorrisonHealth(1).

OnestudentstatedtheywouldpursueanadvanceddegreeinNutrition
andDietetics.

SixofourgraduateswilljointheranksofNutritionandDietetic
Technicians(NDTR)andatleast2othersarepursuingtheCertified
DietaryManager(CDM)certificate.

Onestudentwillbepursuingadditionalvolunteerhoursforaspecialized
graduateprograminGerontology.
