Completed Discovery, a 21-day backpacking, climbing, and canoeing wilderness expedition with
eight other students and two instructors
Co-planned and hosted the 21st Annual Adventure Education Conference with other students
and school faculty (Fall 2013)
Co-created outdoor education and environmental science curricula for 8th and 3rd grade students
in accordance to state science standards; facilitated the lessons to third grade students along
with my partner
Completed workshops for Project Wild, Flying Wild, Project Learning Tree, Project WET, Project
Wild Aquatic, and NC CATCH
Researched and co-created an adventure education program proposal and presented the
program to a professional panel, along with two partners
Researched and developed interpretive signage on the American chestnut along with a partner
Personally researched, developed, and presented multiple interpretive talks for classes
Co-planned, managed, and co-led a week-long spring break trip to Florida, including full days of
flatwater canoeing
Volunteered as a nature teacher for the Montreat Morning School (FebruaryApril 2015),
creating weekly half-hour nature lessons in coordination with the schools theme of the week
and presenting the lessons to three preschool classes, age two to four; preparing all lesson
materials and teaching aids; and helping to manage student behavior while learning the
teachers behavior management techniques
Volunteered for a week at the North Carolina Arboretum, facilitating the family craft during
their Winter Lights show and working with their Winter Discovery Camp helping to manage
camper behavior and leading environmental education activities (December 2015)
